These have been in the album since the 1980's for certain but I suspect that they were placed in the album in 1963 since that was the last coin at the time of purchase. That Library of Coins album causes nice toning.
Beautiful color :thumb: But you probably will want to remove them from that album. Eventually that blue is going is going to turn black if left in the album much longer. Bad idea to allow that to happen. Corrosion is sure to follow.
That would be Volume 11, right? A good friend has a few of those "Library of Coins" albums from "The Coin and Currency Institute, Inc.". Her Vol. 11 has labeled ports up to 1966. Some of the dimes exhibit light toning, but not blue as shown in your pics, and definitely not on every coin.
That toning is beautiful! Very nice! Although, I agree with Doug... Might want to make sure they don't turn black! (Blue is much nicer!)
Dan Beautiful !!! I know they are 10 times better in hand, I have many of those old albums filled with toners and you simply cannot get the look with pictures... As for GD's comment, I tend to agree, as over toning will result. I have experimented as well with these albums.....I transfer them to airtites about 2 times a year.
They are really nice in hand. Maybe I can try a few more pics to catch that. What I like about the set is that they toned together in identical circumstances so they match nicely.
I was able to buy some collections in these albums some time ago, mostly complete 1940-1958 sets. Every now and then I'll pull the primo toners and get them into the airtites and leave the rest. Most of my sets now look like swiss cheese due to the selective pulling of coins. I do know that getting a nice pic of the coins in the book is darn near impossible. Your are correct, they all match, and that makes them even better in hand. I can only imagine how good your set looks:kewl:
Those look beautiful. I agree with the rest of the group. You should probably remove them soon to stop the toning process. They are a beautiful color now but will continue to turn towards black if left to their own devices.
Maybe a dumb question - how would you remove a coin from an album like that without leaving any marks on the surface? Can't just grab them by the edges.
