Never ceases to amaze me.... 1916 Standing Liberty Quarter.

I had a gentleman come into the coin shop yesterday and said he had a coin to show me. I have been dealing with this man for quite some time as a buyer of silver and gold bullion. He told me that he recently inherited a relatives coin collection. He found this coin in a small ring box wrapped in tissue. I informed him that this is a very rare coin and it needs to be graded. I am going to take this piece to central states tomorrow to be graded for the gentleman. It just goes to show you that this stuff is still out there.

I will keep you posted about the story of this coin. I'm not sure if the owner wants to sell the piece, but on my strong recommendation at least it will be protected and certified.

 

I would not sell that, unless he had to. And your doing right by him. Just a suggestion , you may want to contact CAC.

 

Woah. That's a beauty of a coin even if it were a common date, but a 1916!!! What would you grade? It looks like an AU-50/53 or so to me, but I'm no expert on these.

 

The picture really doesn't do this coin any justice... I'm guessing that it'll 58.

 

Nice coin. I was just going to ask you if it was AU or a weakish strike. Apparently it is a little of both.
