I'm not so sure they will all make it to the banks really. Let's look back at the GSA dollars, Kennedy halfs and Sacs that hung around forever. Were they all ever really released and would the Mint tell us the truth if any particular issue failed? It could be possible if the demand does not pan out, that they may keep them in the vaults and destry later what they cannot get rid of. It's also possible that next years production may drop drastically if this happens. Yes/No? Just a thought.

Just a thought. | Problem with that line of logic is that GSA dollars, JFK half dollars, and Sacagawea dollars never circulated to any great extent, and that's why they piled up. Pennies are used all the time... and while there's currently a currency backwash going on (the Federal Reserve is receiving more change back from banks than the banks are ordering back from them) due to the economy, eventually banks are going to need more pennies... inevitable some time this year they will need more, in the billions, and the new design this year is what's being minted according to legislation. It may be a while before banks see them... but eventually, they will, and lots of them.
Whether you're willing to wait for that to happen or not is really the main determining factor for whether or not it's worth it to you to pay $9 for two rolls that you'll see in a week or two or whether you're willing to wait the months it will probably be before you can get them for face value in significant quantites. Right now, I'd say go for it, if you want them badly enough. Eventually though it will be pretty easy to get these (and the other 3 designs) for face value in any quantity you want.
I'd guess at least 3 billion (amongst all 4 of the different designs) will probably be minted this year. 2 billion at the very least. The currency backwash is delaying the distribution of 2009 coinage right now, but that won't last forever.

Thinking about the mistakes I've made in the past, a $8.95 mistake isn't that bad. I pay more than that on smokes and beer. LOL.

LMAO....exactly my feelings when I placed my order. It seems expensive, but in relative terms $8.95 isn't going to keep me from paying my mortgage. LOLOLOL

Yeah, I see it like this...if the new design for 2009/2010 lasts as long as the memorials did (51 years), I may not live to see the next design...heck, I'm almost certain cents won't be around much longer anyways. And to own a piece of coin history for $20 (I bought the rolls and gift box), it's well worth it to me. I never plan on selling it, as I don't collect for profit, I collect for enjoyment. Of course I may be biased because out of the U.S. coins, I like the cents the best.

In 1999 when the state quarter were 1st offered I thought they were high.
but today that 1999 mint wrapped roll has sky rocketed.
| There's no such thing as a 1999 mint rolled state quarter roll. The mint didn't start selling rolls until some time in 2000. So they would be bank wrapped rolls. And you say they have skyrocketed but I believe they are still well below their high price.

Mildly off topic story -- I picked up 8 avg circ Indian Heads for $12.50 (incl post) on eBay, and the seller (without telling me ahead of time) threw in a BU/MS 2009-D cent. (The notation is that it's from Hodgenville, although the seller is from Wash State).
So, perhaps the cost to him was only a penny, but it was a nice surprise to me, as it's the first one I've seen in person.
Very shiny, nice luster (I've never seen "VDB" so clearly!) -- very few contact marks. I'm a semi-newbie, but I could see this as MS63 or 64. (I only have a cheap digital, so I doubt I'll be able to get a good enough pic to post it)
