First Look at 2009 Sacagewea Dollar

Check it out. Looks kind of amateurish.

I agree, I think the reverse looks like some kind of game token. IMO the reverse was always the better half, I guess not anymore.

I guess we are all "dumping" on the design.

It's a shame really. Based on the design drawings I really thought this issue was going to be a nice transition from the eagle. I take that back and agree with Kiyardo....looks amateurish.

Of all the designs submitted, I think they picked the worst one. Someone needs to check the folks who pick these for blindness.

What's the deal with the font on the reverse? And WHY are they now using $1 over "One Dollar"? Is the coin still golden-color?

It was. The whole thing with the dollar coin has been made a joke.

How do you like the KRAZY KAT lettering that would make George Herrminson's heart warm.

I agree with you Ruben. This whole new Sac program is a disgrace. Of all things Native American they could have picked much better representations of their way of life besides a woman squatting in a field. There are so many other things that would have been much better. I can agree with placing Native American achievments on the reverse such as Jim Thorpe and the Code Talkers from WW2. How about Native American celebrations such as the Sioux Ghost Dance. It shows you how much research was done to put something more attractive on the Sac Dollar.

Strange, the design looks fine but the coin looks terrible.
It is pretty accurate, maybe it just doesn't translate well.

I think it looks better than I expected. I do think they made a mistake with the choice of lettering font on the reverse.

Don't worry, you've got at least 13 more years of these things an all of those have been proposed. I'm sure they will get around to them.

Dumbing down of America, we can't expect people to be able to READ a denomination anymore so we are slowly switching over to numbers to try and make it easier to understand.

Yes
