Alaska State Quarter with an Extra claw

    I pickup a roll of Philly 2008 Alaska SQ.and found 2 of the 40 had a 6th claw. I e-mail Ken Potter and he said there a lot of the popping up wit what he called a die crack.what ever it turns out to be here's the photo's

    looks like a die crack, but, who knows.

    I think it;s a die break or die gouge. I'm not sure it could be a new variety double die anythings possible on these statehood quarters later. I would do some research on that coin and, do keep it.

    Now I found 2 roll with the 6claw showing & a Arizona & 2008 cents roll also!
    I guess my weekend if full now

    Speaking of die cracks, anyone seen of/heard of obverse die cracks on 2008D AZ quarters?

    I looked and my P Alaska quarter also has the same feature....the extended material between the 4th and 5th claw. Whatever it is, it's not part of the original design. Weird!

    I think that 1/2 of the Philly Alaska minted have the die crack. I think finding one with out maybe the one to keep
