I picked up about 9 non proof Eisenhower Dollars this week, looking to see if I can find some varieties as we discussed, and came up with a few interesting things. First, this has to be the hardest coin to photograph. Their just impossible to capture their luster. Images will be in original camera capture, small (400 width) edited to color balance, and a larger version of the color balanced versions. Edited versions are in PNG format which have more detail than JPGs But - with a little Gimp I think I have some decent representations: This is one 1971D with great luster, although you couldn't tell from the photograph. http://www2.mrbrklyn.com/images/ike/ike_71_d_obverse_2.1.jpg http://www2.mrbrklyn.com/images/ike/ike_71_d_obverse_2.1.png http://www2.mrbrklyn.com/images/ike/ike_71_d_reverse_2.1.jpg http://www2.mrbrklyn.com/images/ike/ike_71_d_reverse_2.1.png This reverse Eagle seems to have clear doubling
1971 D with Talon Head The second example is another 1971-D, probably BU. but this one with much fewer scratches and Talon head clash: Obverse: http://www2.mrbrklyn.com/images/ike/ike_obverse_71_d.1.1.jpg http://www2.mrbrklyn.com/images/ike/ike_obverse_71_d.1.1.png Reverse: http://www2.mrbrklyn.com/images/ike/ike_reverse_71-d.1.1.jpg http://www2.mrbrklyn.com/images/ike/ike_reverse_71-d.1.1.png second image of reverse: http://www2.mrbrklyn.com/images/ike/ike_reverse_71-D.1.2.jpg http://www2.mrbrklyn.com/images/ike/ike_reverse_71-D.1.2.png
1971 D - Third Example with Doubling on Obverse This example seems to have obverse mechanical doubling on the date and Motto Obverse: http://www2.mrbrklyn.com/images/ike/ike_obverse_71_d.2.1.jpg http://www2.mrbrklyn.com/images/ike/ike_obverse_71_d.2.1.png http://www2.mrbrklyn.com/images/ike/ike_obverse_71_d.2.a.sm.png (enhanaced) Reverse: http://www2.mrbrklyn.com/images/ike/ike_reverse_71_d.2.1.jpg http://www2.mrbrklyn.com/images/ike/ike_reverse_71_d.2.1.png
forth example of the 1971-D - another with a Talon Head Die Crash Obverse with Talon Clash http://www2.mrbrklyn.com/images/ike/ike_obverse_71_d.3.1.jpg http://www2.mrbrklyn.com/images/ike/ike_obverse_71_d.3.1.png Same Coin 2nd Photo: http://www2.mrbrklyn.com/images/ike/ike_obverse_71_d.3.2.jpg http://www2.mrbrklyn.com/images/ike/ike_obverse_71_d.3.2.png Reverse: http://www2.mrbrklyn.com/images/ike/ike_reverse_71_d.3.1.jpg http://www2.mrbrklyn.com/images/ike/ike_reverse_71_d.3.1.png
1972-Ds BU or better I picked up 3 1972-Ds with excellent luster, although none of these coins can be described as mirror like, they are extraordinary IMO for circulating or MS examples Obverse with an apparently different version of earth than the 71's http://www2.mrbrklyn.com/images/ike/ike_obverse_72_d.1.1.jpg http://www2.mrbrklyn.com/images/ike/ike_obverse_72_d.1.1.png http://www2.mrbrklyn.com/images/ike/ike_reverse_72_d.1.1.jpg http://www2.mrbrklyn.com/images/ike/ike_reverse_72_d.1.1.png
I love the eisinhower dollar. i have the hole series.I do have one,1972 that i think is a double die obverse, and reverse ,and it may be a hybrid classes 2 and 6, with some die deterioation doubling mixed in .I want to try and post it ,but i don;t think I could get good results with what i'm working with right now. I don't no if your familiar with the 1972 type 2 dollar with no islands in the world that is the king of varieties for the Ike dollar ,and are very rare to come by, and bring a nice preimum. Here's the link if you are not familiar with it By the way nice coins Ruben www.supercoin.com Jazzcoins Joe:whistle:

what happened to all the Ike guys? I go to the trouble to get a bunch of Ikes and find varieties and your guys all went POOF on me, worse than Dak... Ruben
Nice Ikes Ruben. I too have been trying to assemble a nice set of Ikes. At the risk of being ridiculed, I think the set is about to take off. I don't particularly like the design, but I would like to get a set while I still can at nearly face value. Guy~
There inexpensiveness makes them attractive when I'm not working ...but..actually there are nice examples around which carry some real merit. A silver one like this one for example http://www2.mrbrklyn.com/images/ike/bagged_ikes/ike_1971_obverse_ms_silver_20.jpg http://www2.mrbrklyn.com/images/ike/bagged_ikes/ike_1971_reverse_ms_silver_21.jpg or how about this No toning at all on those coins! Ruben
Hey Ruben, still here... sorry, just got back into town after taking a weekend off and seeing the Giants smack around the Steelers. Your talon heads look like classic textbook examples! Really nice finds there. As far as the other ones, I haven't had a chance to really go over them. On one of your 71 Ikes that you thought may have been mechanical doubling, I couldn't tell. Not a really great pic of the motto and date. Speaking of text books, my IKE book should be arriving today. I will head out to the mail box here in a few. We have our first coin show next weekend and I look forward to finding some Ikes.
Did you mean Proof on me . I like the ultra cameo Ikes especially when there graded Proof 70 ,and I am not trying to be a wise guy ,I really love them.I will try and post that double die reverse and obverses and hybrid classes 2 and 6 when I find it.I shall return Jazzcoins Joe:whistle:Have a good day ruben
Traffic out the Meadowland must have been rough if you just got back from Sunday.. You know, if you can afford a ticket to the Giants Game we have to talk.... I think the originals might be OK. Maybe I'll take more photo's today with better light. Ruben
