I found this coin underneath some floor boards in my cousins house in quebec. I would like to know what its worth. Its a 2 headed coin, both sides are the same. I`ve researched everywhere for it but have not been able to find it. please help!!
This is a token (one of many types) privately minted, many were minted around the time of the bicentinial and many were like this, same on both sides, others have different reverses. If it doesnt have a company name on it or initials, then the most I could tell you is that it isnt worth much at all, in that condition I would say its worth nothing. As you can tell it is very cheap and poorly crafted not to mention the hole and corrosion. I see them pop up here and there and they seldom sell for more than a few bucks I have a whole set of presidental tokens minted by Shell Oil that are nicer that I bought for about 10 bucks.
helldisc88, mine has a hole in it too. Was yours still attached to a lamp chain? Coin dealer said it was not worth anything, but that' s what I paid for it so its allright. Thanks Drusus.
Hi guys, It's not even a token. When I was a kid, I took a bunch of these off a belt that my mother had. The belt was purchased at the 5 and 10 cent store. It was a common bangle on clothing back in the 60s. Worth about 25 cents. Thanks, Bill
George Washington 1797 Coin I have a coin I got from my Grandfather's estate after he died. It is identical on both sides. It's a side profile of Washington. Across the top it says "1789 1st President U.S.A. 1797" and across the bottom it says "George Washington". The other side is identical to the first but you cant see George or the date well. It also has a hole through the top but you cant really read it that well. Sorry couldn't upload more pictures because they exceeded the max size limit. Can you tell me more about it?
What on earth do you want to know that hasn't already been fully answered in the 2008 thread you attached your inquiry to? As previously stated, you have a non-coin, non-token, decorative bit of metal with no intrinsic value.
I found one just like it...do you know anything about it?? thanks you karen karensuebrown@hotmail.com
I have one 2, I found with my metal detector years ago in Battle Creek Michigan. I'd like to see what it's worth also
I saw a similar thing in PAWN Stars show in History channel, An authentic piece in mint condition was told to go any where near $4000 to $5000. The guy who came with this piece sold it for $2500.
The actual 1799 Washington Funeral Urn Medal is rare and valuable. Here is a link to the offerings by Heritage in 2008. 1799 Washington Funeral Urn Medals from Heritage 2008 The OP's piece is not an authentic Funeral Urn Medal. To be honest, it looks like a very cheap knock off.
and these are not even a knock off. just something made in the past 75 years to honor good old George. i am very surprised so many people have came in here and asked the same exact question that was already answered a few posts up!:rolling: i felt like i was going crazy.
the george washington is a token put out in remembrance of george washington after his death and people wore them to remember one of our great presidents so they are worth at auction anywhere from100.00 to 2,500 depending on condition and they are old can check out musem history for more info
cool! thank you! Janewhite, the information you gave was rewarding. when i found this token i was thinking, what kind of value can a coin with a hole and the name george washingto. have? it has a lot of value to me now. best regards, Downstairsdon.
Everyone asked the same question because no one on this forum knew what they were talking about. What good does a forum do when no one on here knows anything!
You're right, they are something very special, worth hundreds of dollars: http://cgi.ebay.com/George-Washington-Token-hole-/320588347574?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item4aa48df8b6 http://cgi.ebay.com/EARLY-George-Washington-Token-hole-INVEST-/200514916361?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item2eaf9ed009 http://cgi.ebay.com/GEORGE-WASHINGTON-FIRST-PRESIDENT-TOKEN-SILVER-COLOR-/180560344007?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item2a0a3c33c7 http://cgi.ebay.com/1932-GEORGE-WASHINGTON-TOKEN-/350093216964?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item51832e8cc4
