M14(1881) Japan 2 sen

Hi, everybody! I just joined here and so far this is the only coin I've taken a pic of. It's in an ngc holder, that's the reason for the glare, if there are any tips for avoiding that, be sure to help me out! Thanks!

Or use "bounce" lighting - aim the light from the side so the glare goes off to the other side instead of into the camera lens.

I'm not familiar with NGC standards for Japanese coins. What grade did they give yours? (I would call if borderline F/VF on the Sheldon scale.)

What is the apparent rim ding above 9:00 on the reverse that doesn't seem to be on the obverse?

It was given a F. Bounce lighting, you say? I'll have to give that a try! Thanks for the replys guys!

Oh, and the tab that you see is just from the holder to keep the coin in place, I just got it off of ebay last week.

That makes sense.

If you see a Meiji 6 for sale (F or better) let me know - that's what I've been hunting for years to complete my 2 sen collection!

Not bad hontonai, I am still looking for low grade M6-9 16 and 17 for the 2 sen. I still have a long way to go. Just missing the big four for the 1 sen.

That M6 is a real toughie. I know two other collectors needing it to complete their 2 sen sets, and one more who sniped me at the last second on EBay a few years ago.

There are a few in Yahoo Japan Auctions, this being one of them

http://page8.auctions.yahoo.co.jp/jp/auction/h62386009

Seems that it's not going any cheaper than 20USD for any low grade ones unless they are damaged?
