Keep photo records of coins?

I've been putting together my database for my collection. I added a place to display photos of the obverse and reverse of each coin. It never dawned on me as to WHY I want photos of every coin I have. I figured if I want to see them I should pull them out and look at them. I mean, that is why we have them, right?

Hidden away and stored well. I strongly believe what I have would survive theft, fire, tornado or nuclear attack.

Interesting idea though. Might be nice having a photo data base for convenience.

I am in process of doing it, both for my collection and the site. What a pain, but a requirement.

I sooooo need to learn how to photograph my toned coins.

I know what you mean. I am dreading the day I have to compile a photo record of my collection. Maybe if I had started 10 or 20 years ago but now!! Luckily my insurance co. doesn't require a photo record and is satisfied (so far) with a detailed list instead.

I have most of my collection photo cataloged, that way, i dont have too pull out boxes when i want too look at them, and it is easier too show people online, if they ask.

I have photo records of every coin I've sold since 2005. The folder takes up nearly 10GB on my hard drive.
