Anyone returned a item to the Mint?

10 Days ago I returned a item to the mint by registered mail. The tracking number shows that it was delivered, but when I login to the mints website their is not any reference to the item being returned and phone calls to the mint have only left me with a standard answer of check back in 2 days and their process takes time.

Has anyone else returned a item and been given the run around? If so how long does it take to get a refund?

I have returned several items to the mint. I've never had a problem at all, athough I can't really tell you for sure how longs it takes them to record the return. You did the right thing by getting delivery confirmation.

I can give you a few other useful bits of information:
- They usually place the return information in the same order it came from originally, so look there under your order history.
- They issue refunds by crediting the same credit card you used for the purchase, so another way you can tell if they've issued the refund is by checking your credit card account.
- They will refund postage also, but in my experience, they won't do it on their own and you have to contact them separately. They will ask you to fax them a copy of the mailing receipt to prove what you paid. In my case the postage has been refunded by check (which looks like an income tax refund because it comes from the treasury dept!). Again, in my limited experience, the postage refund DOES appear as a separate entry in your order history (go figure).

When I've called the mint I've always gotten very polite and helpful people on the line. If you aren't getting anywhere ask for a supervisor and ask for a specific date that the refund should be issued.

Well - my father and me returned 2 each of the Lewis and Clark coin and pouch sets at the same time(he mailed them at the same time). Took me about 10 days to get a refund and his took about 3 weeks. So you might need to be a little patient.

Thanks for everyones help. My account now states 1 item returned. I was getting nervous with an $800 item in Limbo. The reps were all very nice, but I was told the refund processing was 2 days, then 10 days, then 4 weeks. The last rep suggested faxing a copy of the online delivery notification and I may have lost a little confidence when she didn't know the fax number or to who's attention, or her supervisors name. The idea of sticky fingers started sinking in.

Thanks again.
