Comments - critical analysis? I'm testing how to upload my scans as well as asking for comments on scanning coins. These look pretty fair on my computer, but I'd like to know if my scans are close to showing what someone would be looking for in coin detail.

I don't think that the coins are all that bad considering someone paid me for their newspaper (42 cents per week) with them. Wonder what "gems" I gave back in change?

Those look pretty good, for scans.

Scans will always be difficult to show the luster, but they do a great job at capturing detail.

As stated, scans are great for showing detail. But to get the best reults scan in high resolution, 300 to 600 dpi and save the pic as a .tif file. Then when you crop the picture for posting, re-size it down to 500x500 or 600x600 pixels and save it as a jpg. This saves the detail but cuts down the file size to meet posting size limitations.

Mike, that was 1956-1958. Not sure how many silver dollars I received, but couldn't keep many on paperboy's net. I know a friend accumulated over $80 in 19th century coins over three years on a large route. Once he gave up the route they all went into the pinball machine.

Also, I worked at a race track as a kid and was paid in half dollars. Looking back, the boss might have been searching rolls as he went from track to track location and paid us with his "culls".
