I am going 63. I would say this coin did not turn in the holder so the spots and large hit on the shoulder limit the grade.
64 RB. Tough one to grade. Coin looks fairly clean but slightly mellowed red. A few spots really distract (at least to me). I am guessing 64. 65 would not surprise me on that one, nor would 63, so I guessed in the middle.
Having a lot of trouble with this one. IMO, it all depends on how long ago it was graded. I don't think it was graded with the spots as developed as they are now, SO I'm not going to downgrade it to 63, but deciding 64 or 65 is tough. Clean fields, minimal hits, and I think I can see where there was once booming luster. Albeit now luster is subdued to color.
The coin has descent luster (good on the reverse) and is nearly nick free. Yes, there are a couple nicks on the shoulder, but that area is not a critical area and the nicks are not eye catching in hand. I have no idea how those spots were when graded, but I suspect they kept it from a 65 and only the one by the Y is really noticeable in hand. Anyway, PCGS gave it a 64. Whether or how much that spot (S?) affected the grade, I really do not know.
