I would go with doubtful myself, as most of these companies are just piggy-backing off of the guy/person/themes established success already and are trying to use the image to make them a buck too. Having said that, I still believe items like this helped his campaign, maybe not money directly from sales, but that was actually never the question. In fact here it is:

1. Do you think the creation of these Ron Paul Dollars helped him in his presidential bid or not?

The question isnt did the SALES benefit him, rather the simple act of CREATING this and similar rounds was how the question was framed.

So now I firmly stand behind my YES, they did help and benefit the man

Unknown. It's something of a 'chicken/egg' debate. I doubt this (your) hypothetical: the sale of THESE coins encouraged additional support (statistically significant marginal voting and/or fund-raising) for the candidate.

I don't see it yet; you'd have to prove that. I don't have to prove the negative.

I also noted elsewhere the Paul Campaign DENOUNCED the coins. You would think that foolish, if it garnered him support in 2012 otherwise, no?

I'm fairly certain Federal regs forced Paul's campaign to return any illegal money from Norfed in 2008. So - as a headache - we can say there was a NEGATIVE too.

Check the revision:
"1. Do you think the SALE of Norfed Ron Paul Dollars helped him in his presidential bid or not?"

I think that hundreds (perhaps thousands) of deceived or misguided "supporters" bought these coins imagining their purchase would fund Dr. Ron Paul's campaign. And (bottom-line!) such belief was patently & transparently FALSE: their money went elsewhere.

Much more likely, many (most?) Norfed vendors practiced predatory opportunism on gullibles. That's another NEGATIVE (in various ways.)

Where tens of thousands of Dollars of supporters' funds were channelled into unrelated products benefitting private, unaffiliated 3rd party vendors exclusively, was the Paul Campaign ostensibly HARMED by this fraud? I think it probably was (3rd NEGATIVE); and hence, their soft denunciation.

Think of it this way. Does the creation of fake Gucci handbags "help" Gucci, a net positive? No - and the very real ($$$ legal) effort by Gucci to suppress that brand-piracy makes sense.

Ebay sale ended a little over an hour ago, not a bad price for an oz of silver. I wonder how many Ron Paul Dollars were given out by Scott Gesty? Anyone from Delaware? I wonder if the secret service contacted him and told him to forget that idea or face some embarrassment. :D

Umm, that gimmick is nearly 3 month stale, chief. And Ron Paul didn't endorse him. Of course, if you want to give away counterfeits, you probably can, too. btw, Gesty got 1% of the vote (about 4,000 ballots) less than the Green Party Candidate Bernard August... who had NO CANDIDATE PLATFORM lol. But at least that hippie's YouTube got 202 Views: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_JYUXDFXf20

(And fwiw, I voted for Gary Johnson's ticket.) Is this OP political, or what?

Thanks for theat2008 Norfed 1ozt Silver Round Ron Paul Coin auction link. ONLY 7 Bids, Sold for USD$ 96? Yikes. That illustrates my point that the market for these collectibles is collapsing. On feeBay, I also see a few other, similar 'sneaking auctions' for the same product, recently priced $70.-100., more coins are available at the lower end! So why pay $96 if you can get it for $72, eh? That's 2.4x POS, scary cheap.

And that price has fallen ~50% in just about 30 days?! Whoa, dude: SELL WHILE YOU STILL CAN. It will go lower, and lower, and lower...

Nobody cares Juan, at least I don't. If the price goes down to the price of spot then that's fine, I don't care. Now take it on down the ramp. Besides, I thought I got through to you last time you tried relentlessly to get me worked up. You're not worth the time, so you can stop embarrassing yourself already. Another pic of what people think about you, you're a troll and nothing more. :D

A Paul campaign spokeswoman said Friday that the campaign has "no affiliation" with the Ron Paul dollars.
"We have no connection with that," said Jesse Benton, a campaign spokesman for Paul. "He [von NotHaus] was using Ron as a marketing technique. We didn't have anything to do with that or sanction it or give permission in any way."
But Paul's supporters, some of whom have taken pictures of the candidate holding the coins, said the seizure of the coins was sure to stoke support for the campaign.
"People are pretty upset about this," said Jim Forsythe, head of the Paul Meetup group in New Hampshire, who said he recently ordered 150 of the copper coins. "The dollar is going down the tubes, and this is something that can protect the value of their money, and the Federal Reserve is threatened by that. It'll definitely fire people up."
The Indianapolis bureau of the FBI referred calls to the U.S. Attorney's Office for Western North Carolina in Charlotte. That office's spokeswoman, Suellen Pierce, also declined to comment.
In a federal seizure warrant, federal agents allege the money and other properties seized in the raid were linked to money-laundering, mail fraud and wire fraud.
The raid comes eight months after von NotHaus filed a lawsuit in federal court in Evansville seeking a permanent injunction to stop the federal government from labeling the Liberty Dollar an illegal currency.
The U.S. Mint issued a warning this year that the Liberty Dollars violated the Constitution and warned consumers against using them.
Von NotHaus said he has known Paul for years because they "move in the same circles," but he had not talked with Paul about his plans for the special coins so as not to violate federal election laws. He posted a message on the organization's Web site urging Liberty Dollar supporters to respond to the raid by donating to Paul, saying that "in light of this assault on our financial freedom, it is clear that we need Ron Paul to lead this country more than ever."

I do wonder about the so-called "moderation" of this forum, when posters like you fretboard, flagrantly violate Terms of Use with name-calling and harassment.

But since you're so poorly-informed (intellectually-'held back') I'll point out the obvious: this isn't my "troll" and you apparently don't know what the word means. Inform thyself. Copy & paste:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Troll_(Internet)

As for the Ron Paul Norfed 1 ozt coins, I have another (separate, additional) price-record from one of the largest sellers of Norfed merch. Everyone can see for themselves how those price/premium levels also tanked hard. This dealer is/was an RCO and personal friend of BvNH: there's even a special 1 ozt Ag round for his business. His eBay sales of coins exceed 4,000 ozt; a leading Norfed powerseller, his prices were indicative of the market. Incidentally and perhaps most importantly: Ron Paul Silvers are widely cited as HIS idea.

fwiw: some of his Norfed auctions are still sneaking through the feeBay filter, but the number of bidders has apparently collapsed along with the price. I hope he's not sitting on too much contraband, you can you still buy 'em there: http://www.gilliesconeyisland.com/id15.html

Ron Paul Halves now available (12/2012) for just ~$64./ozt w/ -10% discount if you pay w/ m.o., cash or check from his store.

This particular coin still sneak-auctions @ (~$90. -13% to feeBay, or) ~$80. to a few successfully surreptitious feeBayers. But what's the inherent 'risk-premium' for possible future problems with SS/IRS? Factor that: who wants an audit & and/or civil/criminal penalty for a publicly recorded online sale of contraband?

Weighed against other options, growing& selling medical cannabis to arthritic Boomers would probably be more lucrative and defensible, IMO.

Off feeBay, Silver Norfeds go for ~$60./ozt., far cry from that high market-price of 350 bucks in March/April 2011. Grim reality: some coinvestors have now lost over -85% of their money on these "not coin" (scrap'd) products of BvNH.

Just the facts here, jack.

I think the moderators realize that you come off as being pompous in all your posts when you don't agree with what is being said. I told you before that I don't care where the price of these coins go and you still keep trying to push my buttons. All you gotta do is read the entire thread and anyone can tell that you are intentionally trying to egg me on. I've already asked you as nicely as I can to back off but you refuse. It boggles my mind why you keep showing up when someone mentions Norfed or Ron Paul when you've never collected either one, that in itself shows that you just want to meddle and try to create havoc. You sow what you reap.

On-topic: that's false, misleading - and probably just delusional thinking. The data shows reveals the truth, and it's not "attacking" anyone to tell that truth, otherwise. No one here needs to pamper your fragile, febrile fantasy either. The rest of your forked-tongue garbage (weird, maligning, quasi-paranoid accusations) is incomprehensible to me. And the only one "baiting" here is you, bub. hth

Wonder IF any of the dealers at FUN 2013 will have Norfeds openly tabled, for sale. If not, this "collectible" is DEFINITELY going the way of the Dodo bird:
http://www.funtopics.com/content/fun-convention/fun-dealer-directory.html

When in history has any once-collectible (mass-produced in the tens of thousands) then so declared 'contraband' in the world's largest market(s) ever maintained or increased numismatic/collectible value as such in the following 5-10 years?

I doubt ever, but there may be examples. I look forward to sensible discourse, back on topic.
Carved ivory? (Hand-made. But comparable?)
