My Mood: | My 2006 W ASE Finally arrived
My 2006 American Silver Eagle Uncirculated W mint marked coin finally arrived today. Considering I ordered it in December, I'm quite suprised to have gotten anything at all. Its in a pouch instead of a book, but I'm happy to get it in one piece.
I'll get some photo's up next week.

Ruben,
Do you mind sharing the date you ordered them in December? I ordered on Dec 10th and the mint shows the expected ship date as March 2. I read on anothe forum a post from someone indicating they received coins that were ordered Dec 13. If that date is correct, it was after the sellout was announced. I assume he got his dates mixed up. If not, then I am really confused as to how these are being shipped.
Thanks,
Dragon

Thanks Outlaw. That gives me a little better perspective. Now the Mint expected ship date is 3/4. I have been ordering items from the Mint for over 15 years and never experienced anything like this before (first the 20th anniversary sets and now this). I wonder if the Mint is addressing this issue for future releases? However, they are in a good position because if you wait for the secondary market, you end up paying more.

cc51 - don't know if you collect modern bullion coins, but this particular coin will be (is) a winner. The late release of these coins produced a rare opportunity. First unc sold directly from the Mint for the ASE series and also the mintage is very, very low compared to the other ASEs. It is worth waiting for or purchasing. You may not see this happen again for a long, long time and I think this coin will appreciate considerably as people continue to collect the ASEs. Silver is still very affordable and the coins are beautiful.

Next week, the Mint will work all problem ASE orders and you should know what the disposition of your "open" order is (i.e. problem resolved and shipped, canceled, etc). Not the best news for the few CT members who haven't gotten a shipped date, but that's what you're looking at. I understand the Mint is taking these kinds of customer service issues very seriously and will make substantial improvements this year.
I think the first example of this improvement approach is when the Mint decided not to put the proof presidents on sale on 2/15 because they didn't have inventory. When they do put the proof presidents on sale, they will be in stock and won't expect to be in backorders. | Well, I don't know what's going on but I ordered my ASE Anniversary sets while they were still taking orders and after the shipping date being pushed back week after week was finally told they were no longer available. I ordered my ASE uncirculated coins under the same circumstances and like some others the shipping now is in March. Now I thought I had subscribed to the Presidents proofs and rolls and now I check the "track order history" page and it says the status is "suspended". There is no definition for the term "suspended" on the web site. Sheeeeeesssshhhh... |

Thanks for the info ND. Boy, it sure is upsetting when you order before the sell out date and find out that you won't be getting any coins due to an over-sold out situation. This is my second time for this and it might be my last.

Thanks for Information ND. Man I ordered a full 2 days before they stopped taking orders. That is a lot of over-sell. Guys on tv don't do that. Heck I have some but I ordered for some people that just got started collecting. that is going to be the tuff part.

I can't help but feel this is an overstatement. Is it a beuatiful coin? Sure, as all the ASE have been stunning to the point that I'm getting borded of them. I have about 20 of these ASE's now in both UNC and Proof and they have all come to look alike. This is just another ASE, but with a W on the back. So what? Will its value be upheld in 20 years? That remains to be seen but I am skeptical.
