I've seen several pics people have posted with an overlay of the obverse/reverse. How is this done? Is there a special program with this option?
Ah, well they probably used Adobe Photoshop (costs money) or the Gnu Image Manipulation Program (free) for that. Take two images (obverse and reverse) and apply a transparency layer to one of the images. Then you just overlap the image layers and it should give you this effect.
If you provide two images (obverse and reverse) of the coin showing the rotation accurately, I could probably overlap them for you. Take a picture of one side parallel to the bottom of the picture, then flip it over and take a picture of the other side so that the rotation is visible. Doesn't matter if the coin is upside down, I can invert it. But there's another challenge in making sure that the coin is photographed at the same distance and angle so it's not obvious they're two images overlapped.
I downloaded the program and made this pic Thank you! But does this show the 175 degree rotation? Wouldn't the reverse have to be flipped?
In the first pic: When the coin is flipped over the ONE CENT would be towards the bottom. My coin: when flipped over the ONE CENT is on the top. So it needed to be changed.
Several members use the FREE PhotoScape program for manipulating their coin images. green18's tutorial >>>> http://www.cointalk.com/t175157/#post1181633
If you have Photoshop the images can be easily manipulated. Just rotate the images to the desired angle and change the opacity.
