Are the two shiny V Nickels proofs? I bought a lot of V Nickels and these two were completely different than the rest of the nickels. Does the other non-shiny nickel have a mintmark? I wasn't sure if it was a smudge, a smudged mintmark, or what.
Proofs would be much more centered, otherwise it would be very difficult to say if they were proofs or not in their condition. The third coin, I can't make out if there is a mint mark or not. What year is it, only the 1912 would have a mint mark.
I think the two are "shiny" because they've been cleaned and polished (just my opinoin)... and if the other one is a 1912, it could have a mintmark, but it's hard to tell from the photo.
The first two are likely brighter because they have been previously cleaned, but they are not proof coins. Circulated Liberty nickels and Buffalo nickels have long been used in keychains and, after being in the keychain for a while, take on a look similar to these coins. The last is tough to tell what is going on in the image.
Here is the 1912 I was talking about above. I can't make out if this is a mintmark. Kind of looks like it. Maybe a "D".
The two shiny ones are the only coins in the lot of 200 V Nickels that look like that so they were ok, this nickel above was also in there. What a weird looking V Nickel. I need to figure out the date though since there appears to be a smudge or toning around it and need to use the digital camera to capture the rainbow tone.
