Major TPG says this is proof 70. Every 69 I have looks better than this picture, however I am far from an expert, so in comes the poll. Thanks in advance for playing.

pumpkinpie what is this I don*t even

those white dots on the fields are normal for proofs. I can see this as being a 70 from PCGS.

Could have developed the spots after being slabbed but i really dont know? I think spots on proof 70 coins have been discussed before?

I think they are dots not spots. I see these a lot on silver proof coins.

What does the reverse look like?

A 70 is always in hand grading. It is SUPER Hard to differentiate a 69 from a 70 by pictures.

I have 70s and I have 69s, and I couldn't begin to tell you why one is one and why one is the other. ;)

It will probably grade as 69, but it could be a 70--that can't be determined by the naked eye. One needs magnification--at least, I do.

Grading a proof from a image is impossible IMO.

Wow, I thought that would be a hands-down vote for 69 - I'm very surprised. I think I'll just stick to my 69s, with no spots.

    Thanks all!

Sometimes I think they just call them all 69s, and then let every 'x' number get a 70.
Or maybe they flip a coin now and again to see which get 70s.

That is not an attractive coin at all.
It might look better in hand, but I see slight flaws on it that I would have thought would have kept it from a 70 grade.

    I have never seen a PR-70 Ike that I would call a PR-70.

    Me either.

Maybe the grader was a Star-Trek fan - it looks like Ike is out in the Milky Way somewhere...

It may just be a spot, but it looks like there is a ding in Ike's ear.
    Anyone else see that?

Heck, I just want to see the hinney (reverse) before I render a decision. :)

No there is no such thing as a MS70 or a PF70 coin.
