    My recent dealings with teletrade.

I was sour with teletrade quite some time because of the almost hidden buyers premium.

A friend told me last week that on Tuesday nights, teletrade has an auction with no buyers premium.

I placed bids on several lots.

Now that the auction has ended, I have no way of knowing what I won.

All I get is a note saying:
Please check your account later to see what lots you may have won.
    Thank you for using Teletrade.

When will I know what I won?

The nice thing about buying at teletrade is that all of the coins are already photographed nicely!

I noticed no charge for S&H..is this normal for the tuesday auction?

I think you did great, some real nice pickups. You should know that nearly every auction adds the juice (buyers premium). How were you bidding? How could you not know what you were buying or if you won? Its been a while since I bought anything from teletrade, but I don't remember waiting to see what I won.

Drop the "almost hidden buyer's premium" nonsense. If I remember correctly, its right there under your bid in bold letters and is never hidden.

Did you ever pay up last time? If not, they never should have allowed you back.

I've heard of but never actually used teletrade. Educate me on this; am I not reading their site right? Under normal auction conditions basically any day except special Tues. for that $6 2011 nickel above a buyer will pay $6 for the coin + $5 minimum premium (or 8% buyers premium if bidding brings higher prices) + almost $6 in shipping/handling. So that $6 2011 proof nickel would have just cost $17???? Even with ebay's shenanagans and high fees I've never heard of paying $17 on a single modern coin. Dang give me $10.25 a coin (9.25 starting with coin 4 up to 8 total) and I'll ship ya slabbed modern's for free until I run out and it wouldn't be $17 for one coin. Yikes if the above is the way I'm understanding it the buyer's premium does hurt ya alot on inexpensive moderns. It's not hidden but it drives prices up a bit. I can see why you wait until that $5 BP is out of the way. Nice coins by the way and that's what matters most of all.

Detecto: Congrats on your wins. It takes Teletrade about 15-45 minutes after the auction ends to finalize all bids. Not sure why you got free shipping (as that is not typically the case), but glad to hear you did. TC

It might have been part of an introductory offer for creating a new account with them.

I received an intro offer from Heritage for no BP on my first purchase from one of their auctions.

Very nice... I like the coins and the prices you got them for. Great modern coins to break out and put in Danscos (for me at least). Congratulations.

Those coins were really cheap, it makes you wonder how the auction companies are able to make money and pay their salaries...

Very true, but sometimes you can find out sooner if you go into your 'account setting' and click on the 'invoices of lots won' and entering the auction number. I've found out (won) in as little as five minutes after the auction has closed......

I'm sure that there are enough people that overpay that a couple of listings that skate by undervalued won't hurt them.
