New Ike Newp: Does it look like Type 2? Care to give a grade?

I picked this one up on eBay last night. It was advertised as a Type 2, and from the pictures looks to have the diagnostic clues such as the incuse islands and more southwardly-pointing Florida. From pictures it also looked to be in good shape, possibly a decent BU (although there are certainly some hits), so I couldn't turn down the seemingly low But-It-Now price and took a gamble. I can't wait until it arrives.

So what do you all think? Did I snag a Type 2? Also, what would you guess for grade?

The picture certainly looks to be a type 2 although those hits could be throwing me off, Im guessing low ms or high au. The problem with grading these with photos is alot of the grade will depend on luster and how severe the hits and ding are.

    It's a Type 2.

Grade could be anywhere from AU55 - MS62 but certainly not higher.

    Definitely Type 2.

I was looking at this coin also (if it's the one I think). You paid around $80 right?

I personally think its AU58......a very high AU, but in hand it may very well hit 62/63.

Nah, I paid $35 total, after shipping. I'm hoping it's an MS. Already have an AU and looking to make my Ike set all BU.

That's what I get for operating off memory.:eek:

    @$35 that's a very good buy.

As already determined, it is a type 2. I do not believe it is MS. It has quite a few distracting marks and the luster just doesn't seem to be there. Am I the only one who thinks it looks cleaned?

I agree something is not quite right, but I can't put my finger on it. Could just be the lighting.........the lighting bothers me greatly, but I would swear I see some luster. It's just impossible to see if it breaks......

gbroke? Have you sent me a PM lately? Are you working too hard again?

Apparently my inbox was full, so it said you had tried to send me a message. I cleaned that baby out. I'll pm you.

It all depends upon the luster as there are some serious post mint hits on the coin. If there's any dullness on the forehead or cheek/jawline, it'll grade AU.
