2005 State Error Coin

    Can someone help me ID what type of Error is on this 2005 Oregon State Quarter. 2005 OREGON OBVERSE.JPG 2005 OREGON REVERSE.JPG

    That is probably one of the neatest grease filled strikes I have seen though! Nice find!

    Is that a rare type of die error or is it common?

    They are common, It happens when the die striking the coin has debris "Grease" stuck to it. This prevents all of the elements of the coin from striking. Most of the time it is a small section of the coin like a few letters. I think your coin is neat but still not worth a lot if that is what you are asking.

    You can call it the Hannibal Lecter quarter since his mouth is covered so he can't bite. Sell it on ebay for $100,000. lol

    Can't for that price unless it's certified by PCGS or NGC, well, starting in May that is. ;)

    Actually, end of May since the deadline is May 30, it would be the 31st ;)
