But first, I want to emphasis that it is NOT a 1856 Flying Eagle cent, nor is it a 1916 D Mercury Dime.

It is also not a 1948/5708 25 Mils Israeli issue.

  13. Also, there is only one 1849 Double eagle known, so I imagine, it is pretty close.

Cheese cake compared to this coin. At least you know where that one is and you can make an offer on it.

Any coin more difficult to acquire than the 1849 Double Eagle must not have a single example left in existence...because only 1 of these was minted and it is housed in the Smithsonian Collection and thus will never be owned by a private collector.

the government is running in a deficit...make them an offer. Why would you want a whizzed gold coin though?

  20. Yeah, but a multi million dollar offer is swatting a fly off an elephant's behind.
