1863 "Our Little Monitor" Civil War Token

    Here is a neat civil war token that came in in the large collection we bought last week.

    I had never seen this one and apparently it's a pretty popular piece. I can see why. It's really neat!

    The monitor series has good resale value. This is the better of either of the two.

    Beautiful CWT you came up with Matt. The "Little Monitor" tokens are always popular. This one is a Fuld 237 / 423a in copper or a 237 / 423b in brass. It looks to be copper, but it's hard to tell in pictures sometimes. A great piece!

    The Monitor sunk off of Cape Hatteras, North Carolina after being swamped while being towed in a storm. The turret has since been raised and is (was?) on display at the Mariner's Museum in Newport News, Virginia.

    This piece came back AU58BN at NGC. It's F-237/423a.
