Here is a neat civil war token that came in in the large collection we bought last week. I had never seen this one and apparently it's a pretty popular piece. I can see why. It's really neat!
The guys across the river go ga ga over this type o' stuff......... http://www.numissociety.com/showthread.php?6117-Monitor-tokens-set-in-progress
Beautiful CWT you came up with Matt. The "Little Monitor" tokens are always popular. This one is a Fuld 237 / 423a in copper or a 237 / 423b in brass. It looks to be copper, but it's hard to tell in pictures sometimes. A great piece! Bruce
If in some way I misunderstood you, I apologize. The Monitor sunk off of Cape Hatteras, North Carolina after being swamped while being towed in a storm. The turret has since been raised and is (was?) on display at the Mariner's Museum in Newport News, Virginia.
Great piece Matt , though comman , they are highly collected by CWT buffs , It's one of my favorite Patriotic designs . Yours is a beauty .
