Hi Eduard, I have a 70-cc dollar too. The first dollars struck at the CC mint. I communicated with the owner of one of the first 3 coins off the press, who told me that the silver for these did not come from the Comstock Lode, but from over near Mono Lake (I don't have references though). They were carried in saddlebags to Reno for eventual distribution. A neat issue.
Just got this one yesterday I love her, gonna keep her a loooong time. This one might see my grandchildren someday.
Hi Kaz, nice to hear from you. You have a very nice selection of cc coins, and those cc Gold coins are nice too! For myself, as I imagine is the case for most people, the cc-mintmark holds some kind of special allure. One has to have one (or more). I have read somewhere that seated cc coinage was struck differently (less pressure) than other mints, resulting in softer strikes. Is this a fact?
