I like to get the crud off my old coins with my Black & Decker orbital sander. Boy, you should see the way it tears through all the crud, nothing short of miraculous! After I get all the crud off, I put some polishing compound on them and give them about five minutes on my buffing wheel! Lord almighty, you should see those coins sparkle! :devil:
Yes, I'm sure owners of expensive coins are going to rush right down to their basement and start sanding their coins!
I would highly reccomend this tool:http://www.whirlpool.com/-[WFW9050XW]-1001654/WFW9050XW/ It may be a bit pricey, but it sure gets all the gunk off and leaves your coin very clean!
Sure, an orbital sander is fine, if you've got some light soiling and a LOT of time on your hands. But if you're trying to turn your inventory over and keep your cash flow up, you don't always have the luxury of time. That's why the serious numismatists use one of these: http://www.northerntool.com/shop/to...336&ci_sku=1540336&ci_gpa=pla&ci_kw={keyword}
I actually use this: It makes people think it is worth a lot more than it normally is. 'WOAH! He's spending GOLD!!!'
you guys must not know anything about cleaning coins. in order to destroy all gunk and make your coin VERY shiny*, just use one of these:http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:Mk_6_nuclear_bomb.jpg *results may vary for each person
