http://www.numismaticnews.net/article/nact_purchase_grabs_ellesmere It was a great company in my opinion, with a free, well-written newsletter run by the Fehrs. As usual in the buyout there was nothing left of the company's quality after a couple of years. I reached Jim Fehr a while back at Spectrum; my understanding is he is not working there anymore.
I agree. I very much enjoyed the newsletters and have done business with jim on more than one occasion , and have always been completely satisfied. I was sorry to see the company go.
I got several of their newsletters in the mail a number of years ago. They had tons of grossly overpriced material. I am surprised they have even managed to survive. I think they got their business model from Littleton LOL.
I got their newsletter when I was just starting to get my feet wet in this hobby, liked their well-written newsletters. Classic American coins were all certified, a little over greysheet ask in most cases. Littleton has grossly inflated uncertified coins mostly. Plus they pay little to dealers and collectors who send them material, returning everything but the cherry-picked coins. Sorry, I don't buy the comparison.
