eBay seller and a slabbed coin.

I bid and won on a NGC slabbed MS62 morgan dollar.

Well I didn't realize until I got home that there is no picture showing the cert no. on the slab, just the back of the slab and the coin cropped out.

I emailed the seller and told him/her that I would need this number before purchasing.

I've yet to have heard back, but if the seller does not want to give me the cert no. wouldn't you not go ahead with the sale?

IMHO, you had already agreed to buy the coin with the information presented. To make that agreement and then go back and want more information prior to paying is inappropriate. If it were me, I would pay for the item and wait for it in the mail. If I wasn't happy with it, I would return it to the seller per eBay policies.

I'm pretty sure I've seen you post stuff like this before. It was a contract you entered into when you bid based on what he posted. Why would you bid if this cert number was so important to you without it?
I'd say you should think about the saying: "Your lack of planning does not constitute a emergency on his part."
Now if you get the coin and it's a fake or was misrepresented in some how that would be different IMO

Again, you need to follow the rules to institutions before setting your own contracts and conditions. CAVEAT EMPTOR!

I think that at best, what you are doing is unethical and just downright wrong.

I agree with the masses. It would be a bad move on your part.

It would be a bad move on my part if I pay for the coin and it ends up being a AU58 instead of a MS62

No. Absolutely NO!! The seller has done nothing wrong. Apparently you are upset due to an oversight on YOUR part. Why should another seller suffer because you screwed up (again)?

This is the ***THIRD*** auction that you have posted about where you won the auction and decided you wanted to renege AFTER winning the auction. I would suggest that you learn how auctions operate, that you know what you are getting into when you bid, and make sure everything about the auction is to your liking BEFORE you bid on another auction.

Man up and pay for your purchase. If you come out on the losing end of this auction so be it. Use it as a learning experience. Don't make seller after seller pay for YOUR numismatic education.

**EDIT** Corrected my comment about how many times now the OP has reneged after winning an auction.
1- Bid on $10 coin on Teletrade without reading Terms & Conditions and reneged after getting invoice with $15 buyer's premium.
2- Reneged after winning eBay auction but did not have enough money to pay for the item.
3- Now OP wants to renege on his latest eBay purchase.

Once again i will reiterate what everyone else said don't bid on anything unless you have the money or understand what you are bidding for and want to buy it at the price.

I don't know if he is being unethical, that would show intent. I just think his knowledge is a little lacking and he tends to act impulsively.

Number 1: If you are going to participate in auctions and sales as a buyer you have the responsibility of making sure that you know what you are committing to BEFORE you make a bid, offer, or outright purchase. Once you have done that, you are responsible for following through with consummating the sale on your end. If you have not read the rules, the terms of sale, looked at the pictures and made sure that you are satisfied with the purchase BEFORE the bid is put in, offer is made, or purchase is made, then YOU are the problem, not the seller. You can ask the sellers questions before the sale, and get the information you need to make your decisions before the end of auction or you can pass on it. And to keep renigging on these after the fact is a matter of you not being someone reliable or honest. This is about the 3rd time that you have come onto CT and given examples of sales you felt you could not complete on your end, when the fault appears to be with you and the way the you operate. The last time you came on here and gave the ebay item number, and I looked at it, I ended up going to my sellers account and blocking you, because I did not want to (sometime in the future) encounter you as a buyer --- under any circumstances. I do not see how you can justifiably say that this is something the seller needs to accommodate you on to fulfill the sale. This is ridiculous. This really gets me angry. Are you an adult or just someone who wants to go through life as being irresponsible and expecting others to just deal with the ramifications????? That's a real question.

If you cannot tell the difference between an AU-58 and MS-62 by looking at them then you have a LOT to learn about coins. (Hint: One is very, very slightly circulated but with almost full luster and GREAT eye appeal and the other one is uncirculated but has terrible eye appeal due to numerous contact marks and greatly diminished luster.)

As the bidder you had the chance to throughly examine the actual acution prior to making a bid. Yo uplaced the bid & you should pay him/her what you owe them. Its not right to retract your actions. Take more care in your future auctions. Good luck
