It appears to be a die clash rather than a strikethrough. You can see Jefferson's upside-down outline on the reverse, and part of Monticello on the obverse. Chris
Chris I agree with you and you got it right . look behind Jefferson's head and you can see one of the O's from the word monticello.
Hey Chris here's another die clash that's up inside of a deep recessed area of the die. look at the design from Jefferson's head showing on the front of the building. this proves this is not impossible just like I have been telling you good folks. Troy
This coin has been too heavily circulated to say with any certainty that the clash shows through the building. Chris
It looks like the clash marks stop once they get to a raised portion, just as they should. The memorial is all scuffed up with contact marks, but none correspond to the clash shown in the fields around them.
You have a highly unusal coin here and please don't let anyone tell you any different. I have a cent coin that shows a major die clash on Lincoln's face area. these folks on here have been trying to tell me it is impossible for this to happen. I know it can absolutely happen under certain circumstances because I have two more cent coins with it only not as major as my last find. I can clearly see Jefferson's nose and his part of his ponytail and lots of other clash marks on the very top of the side of the building. there is also some marks on the steps of the building . this should make your coin worth quite a bit more than a regular die clash coin. you may be able to see the clash marks better than we can by using a 10X loupe because a camera usually misses a lot.. If you can see the marks that are not supposed to be there please let me know what you can see.
