Well, that's the only way I see that he is going to prove others wrong. If he doesn't want to then I can only guess that he is afraid to get egg on his face.........which is no big deal because he can always let Rascal lick it off. Chris
I rode a unicorn to work today but it ran off before my co-workers saw it. I swear I did, I swear. It was purple with pink polka dots too! I agree with some of the others, better pictures would be nice.
Well, I'll be darned! Your unicorn ended up in my front yard. Send me $1000.00 and I'll make arrangements to ship him back to you. Oh, and there is also stable and feed charges amounting to an additional $379.47. Chris
Iwill try to answer both of your posts in this one post. I totally agree with you and cpm9ball about getting someone else to look at this coin. I know Mike and Ken both and have had dealings with them in the past. They both know about error coins and are good attributers. I also know a few things about error coins but none of us are totally perfect no matter what we think we know.We all are humans and sometimes we make mistakes. If I send this coin to anyone it probably will be Billy Crawford or Mr. Wexler.right now my wife is sick and I'm trying to take care of her and I have so many other things to do it will take me a while to get this done. if this is from a dropped die filling or the remnants of a totally worn down die cap this would probably be the first one found this severe on a cent coin.this would make it hard to confirm because we have nothing to go by. I have only seen one more coin like this and it was the authenticated quarter that was on ebay. all I have to go on right now is the fact that there is no evidence of a hammer or squeeze job plus there is part of what looks like the letter O 0n top of lincolns head and at the ends of this it ends abruptly, it looks just like where only part of the O had become filled in the die then fell out. This part must have become dislodged from the bigger piece because it is out of place. If another coin was used it would come out smooth and slanted at the ends of this or the complete O would be visible. guys I really don't care if anything is ever done with this coin or the other odd ball coin I showed on this forum , I just like this odd ball stuff. but I will be sending it along with a few more to be examined furthur when I can find the time.Lost Dutchman you sure have a good bunch of coin experts on here,I am having a ball with reading all of these great posts they write.I hope these are kids and not grown men. I don't see how you can put up with all of us.
Chris if I end up getting egg on my face this will not bother me and it would not be the first time. I think you have been egged enough to know all about this.
I hate to say this but the coin is clearly a PMD. I wish it weren't for your sake but the new photos pretty much nail it. Sorry...
Yeah, I was just kidding! No, I haven't had any egg on my face, but I do keep an ample supply of hand grenade pins for those that are thrown my way. I've never been afraid to admit I'm wrong, but like you, if I feel so strongly about something, I won't back down. You really do need to send it to someone like Billy, and please let us know the outcome. Chris
Honestly, I see a few folks who are acting childish, yourself included Rascal. I also however see folks giving honest opinions based on what you provided. I would recommend that you learn how to disagree respectfully. Imagine if I walked in the room and exclaimed that I was the king of Ecuador with little to no proof, and I got snippy with everyone who disagreed. That's what you are doing. I recommend giving more information (pics) so that we are able to study the piece in greater detail. It's just like the old saying "put up... or shut up."
SO you should have no problem explaining the difference between the two then? Instead of just throwing a completely unsupported statement like that out there? =)
If you are going to ask for the opinions of others, it is not wise to ridicule and belittle those that do not share your opinion.
It IS possible. A Glob of something falls on the die and fills details and several letters on the die at the same time. Now these filled features will have material bridging them and joining them together. If that whole piece falls off the die at the same time it IS possible for that stuff joining the fills to hold them together and be struck into another coin. When this happens you would also expect that "bridging" material to also be struck into the coin creating a depressed area in the coin that shows the pressed areas are connected.
I also think the Raiders have a chance at the SuperBowl this year. Evene though they don't have a perfect record, they are getting better with there defensive line which will really help slow down the running gains in which they've been giving so much up on. I guess we will get a better grip within a few weeks.
I will 2nd what Matt said. You have done nothing but instigate a pointless discussion (I would have to say purposely based on your comments in this thread). Your reluctance to post a picture of the coin in hand has done nothing but call into question your claim. On any forum, you must be able to handle differing opinions and comments from all types of people. If you cannot handle it, a public forum is not the place to ask for or share opinions. I am an adult, and I'm not impressed. Without a posted picture, I hope no one else chooses to comment. You can live happily ever after with what ever it is you have purchased without worrying about what others think.
