this coin im going to post is not mine. saw them in our market place (we usually call them sidewalk vendors). they buy and sell gold and old coins. the $20 liberty gold coin has safety pin soldered in the reverse. this is usually done by old muslim folks in our place. they wear it as an ornament/jewelry. and frankly i think it is fake. but the 1888 alfonso xiii i think is genuine. i forgot to take a picture of its side. it has spade-like features i think. i hope someone can tell me what its worth if they are genuine. thank you very much. 100_6296.jpg 100_6297.jpg 100_6298.jpg 100_6299.jpg

You didn't say where you are located, but if it is anywhere in the Middle East or North Africa, I would be hesitant about buying anything at all.

I have concerns for both. I do agree that the Spanish coin looks better... But I'm still not 100% convinced it's good.

Sorry. I'm from Zamboanga, Philippines. I was just wondering what would be it's worth if the coins showed are authentic. I can't afford them anyways since the prices they are offering are way too high. Let's say they are authentic, what would be its worth? Thank you very much.

That $20 Liberty coin looks fake. I certainly wouldn't take a chance on it. Even if it were real, in that condition it might be worth around $1600.

thanks. and how about the Spanish coin? I've been eyeing it for quite a while now. do u know how much its worth? the reverse is in very good condition while the obverse has little marks on it.

Some sellers are asking around $40 on eBay for Spanish 5 pesetas in that condition. It looks like it might be authentic, but it's hard to tell definitely.

thanks. they're selling the $20 coin for 25,000 pesos (that's more or less $500) while the Spanish coin is 4,000 pesos (more or less $100). thanks for the information.

    Out of curiosity....

Why are the photos stamped with a date nearly 5 years ago in a US Date format?

another coin was displayed in this guy's stall. a silver morgan dollar. the reverse has the same soldered pin but was taken out. can anyone grade this coin please? i also saw a 1904 20$ double head gold coin (with soldered pin again) but i didnt take a picture.
*take note* these vendors just buy and sell gold and silver. they really dont know anything about coins. as long as it is gold/silver, they just weigh it and buy it.

The coin is so badly damaged that if it is real, its value is only a function of its silver content.

I believe the Spanish 5 Pesetas is most likely real.
eBay Example I believe this one would be about the same to compare with.
