Well i've had this coin in my possession for a good 2 years now. I found it when i lined up a handful of quarters in my hand and saw the non-clad edge.

I have no clue if this is silver, an error, or even platted. It had a P mint mark, so it is not a S silver proof. It shines like any old quarter. Anyone have any idea on what this is worth, or if it is even silver? Thanks!

All P minted quarters are copper-nickel. Worth 25c.

So it just was minted that way and not worth anything?

It would be unlikely that it was struck on a (proof only) silver planchet at the Philadelphia Mint since all of the proofs were struck in San Francisco, but anything is possible. Are you able to weigh it? A silver quarter should weigh 6.25 gms, and a clad quarter should weigh 5.67 gms.

I may be able to weigh it at work, but its only to the tenths place. It would be about a day before i could figure it out.

    Thanks!

Since there is more than .5 gm. difference between the two, the nearest 1/10th should be good enough.
