There's a whole thread dedicated to roll searching. You should check it out. Very informative and entertaining.

In 1987, the US Mint did not produce regular circulation strikes for the half dollars for the Federal Reserve. They were ONLY available in US Mint Souvenir Sets (1st) or US Mint Uncirculated Coin Sets (2nd) which kinda makes them special. Well, they used to be special (in 1987) but finding them in circulation is a plus.

You're better off just asking the teller if anyone has cashed in halves... in the past two weeks I've found (4) 90% and (16) 40% from $54.50 worth of halves. It seems alot of us "older" folk are cashing in those jars of half dollars we've been saving.
