You know you're a true collector when you look at the change being handed to the person in front of you at the checkout counter.

You know you're a true collector when the cashier opens the cash drawer to give you your change, and you lean over the counter or crane your neck to see if you can spot anything of interest in the till.

You know you're a true collector when you check the obverse and reverse of every coin the cashier hands you before leaving the register.

And finally, you know you're addicted when you have a subscription to every possible numismatic publication on the market.

And, if you ask for a roll if you get a shiny new coin

And, if you slab all of your coins, even the ones that are only common-date, AU coins

And, if you ask to take home the change in the charity box, and pay the cashier 3x face
    Too many ands!
And, if you can tell how much coins you're getting at the register before he/she hands it to you.

The last one: If you sleep at night thinking your next penny will be an 1909-S VDB in MS67 condition

How about when you pick up a cent off the sidewalk and examine it while walking which results in you tripping, all the while your wife is mortified and ashamed enough to be your wife she takes the opportunity to pretend she doesn't know you as you dust yourself off and continue looking at the stray change you've found during your walk. If this sounds too "Three Stooges" type comedy to be true, just ask my wife. And it wasn't a one-time occurrence!

  8. Yeah, I had a cashier comment on me doing those very things this evening. So I showed them my silver "pocket piece" or lottery ticket scratcher as I like to call it. I might have inspired a new collector.

I buy a coke everyday at work for $1.5

First I insert a $1 bill than a five (that's the biggest it takes) I get two quarters and 4 pres or sacs back...

Then I think wow what a steal!!!!!

You know you're a collector when you place $10 bucks in the change machine when you already have change in your pocket so that you can get new change that may have a possability of filling a hole in your collection. You know you're a collector when you put five cents in the penny thing at a store to take out a 2011 cent cause you don't have one yet. You know you're a collector when you're more excited about getting a coin that fills anything in your collection than getting something more expensive as a gift for your birthday. You know you're a collector when your love ones ask what you want, you say coins, they don't believe you, get something you don't want and later wonder why you like a cheaper coin gift from other member of your family. By the way, I almost always now get coins from my love ones. Thus, your a collector when you only get coins as gifts from your love ones.

No, no, no. You know you're a collector when your bill is $3.97 and you put in three quarters, two dimes, and ONE penny, then a five -- so you can get the maximum 99 cents in coins as change. :) (Now, there's something you couldn't get away with when humans checked you out!)

you know you are a collector when you have saved every coin you ever got and you have drywall cracks and sags in the floor as a result.

You know you are a true collector when you check every obverse and reverse of a box of 3,000+ wheat pennies for a special date. (What I have been doing for the past week)
