On Saturday, I was at my grandparents' home, and I got to look through my grandfather's coin safes. In one of them, I was looking through some of his albums. Last time I did, I found a 1916-D Mercury Dime. This time, I found something else almost as good: A 1928 Peace Dollar! Sadly, I wasn't able to get pictures, but I'd grade it roughly around AU-50. It has some pretty decent luster. Next time I take a trip over, I'll try and get pictures for you all
My grandmother had a safe filled with just about any silver coin made in the early 1900s, along with plenty of buffalos and wheats, but sadly, they are in a safe that is extremely difficult to get too :-( I got to look through them once for about 10 minutes, but that wasnt nearly enough.
I remember cracking open the safe for the first time, seeing bags full of Morgans and Peace Dollars. It's sensory overload. You can't get a good look at any one thing because you have to look at everything
I would love to look through the coins for mint marks and such but its just such a pain to get the safe out to get the coins out of, and my dad never really feels like doing it. Oh well, maybe sometime, haha
