Gold coin value?

I have six gold coins that I’d like to have you guys tell me what there worth, and if I wanted to sell them on-line where a good place is to sell them and not have to worry about getting a fair deal? Also, as far as taxes go would it make any difference if I sold one at a time or all six?

I’ll post one coin at a time if I can figure out how to even post pictures. Thanks!

The first coin is an 1904 $20. All the coins are graded MS64 - I'll see if I can do two. The second coin is a 1924 $20.

1904 $20 $1350.00 a couple of days ago on ebay.

1924 $20 $750.00-$1,000.00 on ebay.

Ebay is a god place to find out how much your stuff is worth by looking at the completed listings. You can check other places like PCGS but ebay will let you know what people are willing to pay for the same thing you have. Taxes shouldn't matter at all. Assuming you sell for a profit and claim it on your taxes, a profit of $500.00 six times is the same as a $3000.00 profit. But I am not a tax expert I always use Turbo tax. As far as selling goes, this site is a good place, Heritage Coins, and ebay are good. Hope this helps.

The 1932-$10 looks like on Heritage they are going for about $2,150.00
Heritage is really the place to go on the higher dollar coins.

I don't know if this was one of the coins I tried finding a price on or not but I couldn't figure out what the heck they were and got frustrated. So I figured I'd just post some pictures here and find out from you guys. This way I at least have a good starting point and know if an offer is in the ballpark or not. I sold one gold coin based on my findings and then found out it was worth a lot more then I thought. So I'm just trying to be a little smarter this time. I really appreciate the help I'm getting!!!

Well go to this page.....

And sign up to be a free member....then go to the ended auctions....and search for your coin and it will bring up many many in many grades....find on of the same date and grade and that is about what the coin is worth.
The price I quoted is what they sold the last 5-6 for....all in 2006....some went higher...but none went lower than my quote.

OK thanks! I'll check that site out and see if I have any better luck there then I've been having. I'm not a collector and only own half the value of these coins,my sister owns the other half and she wants to sell them. It's not worth fighting over and I don't have the money to buy her half so I'm going along with the program. But if all goes well, I just might buy a couple of the cheaper ones and start collecting myself. I love the look and feel of these gold coins.

Anyway, if you guys don't mind? This is the coin I've had a hard time finding the value for. It's a 1854 $1.

Hey Kraco,

Wow! Well, the PCGS price guide lists the 1854 Type 2 in MS64 at $21,000. That's probably not too far from the mark, but I'm having a hard time finding realized auction prices for that coin right now. I'll let you know if I find anything else.

All of the coins that you've shown are very, very nice coins. Any one of us on this forum would most likely be proud to own them...though most of us couldn't afford them.

EDIT: After looking on the Heritage website, it looks like the coins have mostly fluctuated between $15,000 and $20,000 over the past couple of years, with $17,000 or so being about average.

Thanks for checking them for me. I have two more coins left but I don't think there as nice as this one, but who knows. I sure didn't think the smallest coin of the bunch would be worth the most!

The next two are 1906 and 1907 $2.5

Hello Kraco...
These coins are not just normal gold coins...anyone you try to sell them to will more than likely ask you where you got them? At prices like this a coin that has that grade with that particular PCGS ID # one could investigate the original owner to determine the coins origin.Most collectors of these type coins will know their value and or purchase price and have it itemized somewhere in their records.
Do you mind if I ask you where you came upon these coins?

Yeah I thought about that but they belong to my Dad and were left to me and my sister. So I don't think there will be any problems.

Like I said..when you go to sell something like this, be prepared to present official documents stating that that coin was passed down to you via a will...more so for the $1 dollar Gold...the other coins are or should be a unquestioned transaction. From the stand point of a investor that would be willing to purchase such a coin..he would want to make sure that his new found coin is not subject to confiscation due to an unlawful act or stolen property...I would sure hate to loose 20K without some sort of protection...again this is just me..but I am sure this would be considered by anyone investing that kind of dough$$$$$$$$
