I have a 1977 lincoln d penny that is 2 coins pressed together a slight off center. On the back of the 2nd coin is the original back of the lincoln memorial and on the front of the first coin is the original front of lincoln with the lincoln memorial back stamped over the front. Is this a normal error and does this coin carry any kind of value?

It is damaged--someone who had too much time on their hands took 2-3 coins and stacked them on top of each other and then covered them with a piece of leather and then hit them with a hammer...that is what will cause this type of damage.

    Sorry it wasn't worth anything.

I agree to start trying to collect stuff like that. Therer are actual error coins and then there are the fun ones. Yours is the fun type. There are also lots of 2 headed or 2 tailed coins used by magicians or cheats for flipping for coffee. Someone got me on that one. Then there are the ones flattened and actually sold as novelties. Have you seen the one with Kennedy's face next to Lincoln on the penny? My favorite is the copper plated 1943.

Hey there Just Carl. I found this one while roll hunting. Not a valuable piece, but who's in it for the money, right? Aloha, Chad.
