#1 1912-D PCGS slabbed NOTE: If you don't vote in the poll, your vote will not be counted This one will be a minor bit different. Here are 3 1912-D's. The first 2 are graded by PCGS and they will count in the cumulative scores. Plus a third graded by ICG that will not count, but I would appreciate your grading / opinions. (Please score the ICG with your honest grade, not what you think ICG gave it.) There is at least one of these I think is misgraded, so please add all the comment you can.
very nice...even some rainbow in it , thought between a 63-64 , but again conservatively went with MS-63
gut said 63,, so I probably should have gone 64,,, but again, probably stupidly, gonna override the method and stay with 63 because the coins is pretty dirty looking.... finger print and some spotting and RLM's said he didn't agree with one of these grades,, so I'll guess that it's this one and that it's graded 63 and he thinks it should be a 64,, which I could see.... I'd take this one is a second, I love em' abit dirty,, and a great tone to boot !
Read that again. I said that there is "at least one of these I think is misgraded". I might think all 3 are misgraded.
I'm confused. You say there three coins. But, the two obverse photos are the same coin, and the last picture (you said is in an ICG slab) is in a PCGS slab.
There are 3 separate polls, Sean. Each contains 1 coin with 3 pictures. Polls #63 and #64 are the PCGS coins and poll called XX is the ICG coin.
My guess is MS64. It is a good MS coin. Plus, I doubt that the submitter would try to fake us out with an AU58 or a slider.
I thought 63 - but I really ignored the second picture. While it showed the luster towards the rim I thought it also made ol' abe look like it was cleaned and had wear. It was probably just the lighting and the angle, but on my PC monitor it made it look bad. I went with 63 because of the carbon spots and me not being able to see the luster. Still over all a nice coin.
