I agree Ebay does allow other electronic payment options. Below is the list that are shown and allowed within my ebay account listing backside.

    PayPal
    Credit cards
    Moneybookers
    Paymate
    ProPay

If you read it, you are even allowed cash money, checks etc. - IF you do it in person. The idea is simple. The buyer must agree that the item is acceptable or he gets his money back or does not pay.

That's it Exactly ! Have you seen items with a start bid of $0.99 with $29.95 S&H ? They are everywhere. The new policy of listing an item for free and only paying the 8% sales price has all these guys doing this.

    A Technicality Of Offering

You are technically correct, as eBay mandated for this auction catagory, i (internet) payments only, stating that only those services designated could be used, Paypal being the only service having established "credibility". and clientele. I'm not certain, but I thought an anti-trust litigious action is still pending, and there was a preliminary finding in favor of the plaintiffs. My statement should have read: "How soon we forget the arguments that eBay advanced for mandating PayPal TYPE payments. " I stand corrected!

I am not sure how Discover, Mastercard and Visa qualify as "i" payments. But even if they do, please explain just how do cash and checks qualify as "i" payments? And every one is specifically PERMITTED.

A Sure Answer To An eBay Payment Misunderstanding

It's apparent that you are more learned than I and the eBay representatives who canceled my listings which offered personal check or money order payment options.

EBay representatives were quite specific about allowable payments in the coin categories, referring me to the allowable payment options through the sellers electronic internet merchant account.

To clarify matters, please state in the body of your next eBay auction that your only acceptable form of payment is cash, check, etc.. I believe eBay states that all other payments are stated to be electronic, acceptable only through your seller internet account.

I may have been misinformed, and would appreciate knowing that your understanding is correct for the coin sales category. Thanks for the enlightenment, and I'll anticipate learning about your successful venture of accepting funds other than "i (e) payments". :thumb:

Apparently I am more learned than you. You are making that obvious. Yes, cash is permitted, but not as THE ONLY method offered and only for pick-up delivery (any category), and for several categories not including coins. Try reading; http://pages.ebay.com/help/pay/accepted-payment-methods.html
    Here is an exerpt;
    Payment upon pickup

BTW, I wonder why I am the only one capable of looking that up. That is now my default search when I go to eBay help.

    EBay Payment Quote

    eBay payment quote:

    Payment method exceptions
These payment methods may be used only in the listing categories described below:

    • Bank-to-bank transfers (also known as bank wire transfers and bank cash transfers)
    • Checks
    • Money orders
    • Online payment services: Allpay.net, cash2india, CertaPay, Checkfree.com, hyperwallet.com, Nochex.com, Ozpay.biz, XOOM
    Listing categories:

    • Motors > Boats . . . .
I only know what I've been informed by eBay representatives, and yes, you may be better informed, as maybe their requirements may have changed. One, or maybe both of us, in brevity, may have taken payment information out of context.

EBay Reportedly Stated Justification For Mandating PayPal Payment

The following is a quoted response by eBay to a Class Action lawsuit, filed in Detroit alleging eBay mandatory practices precluding other forms of payment through numerous actions. EBay with its' normal defiant attitude reportedly failed to properly acknowledge and respond in a timely fashion. EBay requested and justified an extension with the hereaftermentioned statement. I realize that your stated knowledge is more complete than that of the eBay legal team, but I'm submitting this eBay quote for your digestion, as reported: By Geoffrey A. Fowler in the Wall Street Journal

EBay has said "the move to make PayPal mandatory helps to improve the safety and reliability of selling on its marketplace." Yet critics have complained that forcing sellers to use PayPal is just another way for the company to charge additional fees and pad its bottom line.

LD said it straight up " don't bid in the fools auction" ! You won't get that money back unless you take advantage of another buyer . How the hell are they shipping it ? by Courier ?

Agreed - you don't bid on those, but report them. There was another thread on here about ebay with a seller listing auctions with high shipping charges - his shipping was the minimum they would take for the coin. Seller even stated that in the auction - I reported 4 of his coin auctions and they got pulled. I need to find those and see if the seller is still doing it.

Found it - the seller was stampblue_0. His coin auctions have reasonable shipping, but the other auctions have the minimum value in shipping. Maybe I need to report some other items.

doug_davidson has nothing listed and has not had anything listed for whatever timeframe eBay used to list completed auctions (15 days I thing). http://shop.ebay.com/doug_davidson/m.html?_nkw=&_armrs=1&_from=&_ipg=&_trksid=p4340
