They used the same photo and just photo shopped the "69" or "70". They have multiple coins of each and that is faster than taking a photo of each. If you buy one, you will prolly not get that serial number.

I don't think they are doing anything wrong, they have a store and it is a generic coin. If Ebay made them have a seperate listing for each one... they would probably lose more buisness then they are already losing. I have a store myself and if I have multiples of the same coin I list it as inventory with "X" available. I am sure if you requested they would provide you with the actual serial number of the coin you would win. I am not saing they re not bending the rules but I am saying those rules were meant to protect people from crooks not the average coin seller.

Using stock photos for certified coins does NOT follow those rules. Modifying the holder to say PF69 instead of PF70 (or vise versa) is NOT showing the coin that's for sale.

If I showed you a picture of a PF69 and a PR70 could you tell me the diffrence? It's a common coin, who cares?

If they're slabbed I can easily tell the difference. That's the whole point of putting serial numbers on slabs and why Ebay makes you show the whole front of the holder. If we start changing the grades on them or altering them in anyway, they are no better than raw coins.

It is no different than selling counterfeit slabs in my opinion.

I at one time had over 20 NGC slabbed Washington dollars that I was selling for $4.00 each. There is no way in the world I was going to list them individually just to show the diffrent serial numbers. I took pictures of one coin and shipped one of the coins out of the box. That is what this seller is doing and he is not cheating or lying to anybody. No way does this compare to counterfeit slabs.

He is altering the grade on a slabbed coin. That defeats the purpose of have a coin slabbed in the first place.

Especially since the coin with that serial number is a PF70, so he's picturing a PF70 coin when you're really getting a PF69. And if you don't think that it's misleading, remind me never to buy anything from you.

No matter how reasonable you feel it is, it is a violation of the rules. you don't get to break them just because YOU think it's justified. Chinese counterfeiters feel justified too.

There is no noticable diffrence between a PF69 and a PF70. You are still getting a coin slabbed by NGC in the grade that you purchased. I could completely understand if we were talking about an expensive coin, but it's a $15.00 very common slabbed quarter! If you are that concerned about the serial number of your common date slabbed coins I wouldn't want you to buy anything from me anyway.

Well I did. It turned out fine, all my customers were happy, I have 100% positive feedback, and I am a powerseller/Top rated seller. I told everyone in the listing that it was a "sample picture" and they bought the coins fully knowing they were not getting "The" coin that was pictured. Sometimes.... when I am feeling extra lazy... I use the mint pictures for my mint and proof sets as well.... and nobody complains....

It's a lot easier to take another photo and upload it than it is to take a photo, crop out the PF69 the paste it on a photo of a PF70.

Maybe, what if they didn't have a camera handy when they relized they forgot to take a picture of the other coin?
