I have looked around on the net and can't seem to find the information I need. You seem to have a nice friendly site here so I thought I'd ask here. I have some law enforcement challenge coins that I want to to put in coin slabs. I am not looking to have them sonically sealed. Its a bit of a long story that doesn't need to be explained here for length purposes. I have been looking on line but can't seem to find the slab I need, if one does indeed exist. My coin diameter is 1 3/4" or 43-44mm as far as I can tell. I have searched this forum and have not been able to find the information I need. Q. Do these slab sizes exist? Q. If yes where do I find them? Thanks in advance.
Coin world slabs (coinsupplystore) might have some, i dont think so. Why dont you want it sonically sealed? Just take some tree clippers to the slab and go to town lol works every time.
I've never even seen a challange coin slabbed, the largest slabbed coin i have is a 2010 perth mint koala measuring 40.3 mm diameter and the ASE is 40.0 mm, and it just about fits in the ngc holder
Here is a link that might help. They have others as well... http://www.wizardcoinsupply.com/lighthouse-coin-capsules/index3.html
Depending on what kinda money you want to spend you could always go to Capital Plastics and have them custom make your holders. http://www.capitalplastics.com/Products.htm
I don't want it sealed because quite frankly I don't want to spend the money. I don't know the cost but I have been told it is a little pricey. Here is what I am doing...might as well tell ya. I am a law enforcement officer on the west coast. My department has issued challenge coins for a few years now. They have just decided to release a challenge coin for each member of the department who has been killed in the line of duty. Each coin will have the likeness of the deputy on them. I am also a geocacher. I want to release each coin as a trackable at the location they were killed. The goal of the coin will be to travel from the origin cache to the national law enforcement memorial in Washington DC. Each coin has to have a trackable tag (or travel bug) attached to it. This is a travel bug. It is essentially a dog tag with a chain. Now, up until I saw the coin slabs I could only conceive of attaching the travel bugs via a cable and drilled hole. I also want something that will moderately protect the coins. I suppose sealing them will be better in the long run but I have to do nine of these and the cost just seems to be getting higher.
You might want to dig a little in this link... http://www.wizardcoinsupply.com/products/1-frosty-cases/index4.html I think you might find something. There are other coin supply places that sell holders along these lines for a buck or two. I think you'll be able to find something without breaking the bank.
