Rick Snow has won Numismatist of the Year. IMHO, he's an absolutely perfect choice! I actually "heard" about his winning this honor a while ago and was extremely delighted with the ANA's choice. I can't think of a more deserving person - he spends a lot of time giving back to the coin hobby, is extremely thorough in his research, and is quick to offer advice or help to the experienced and novice collector as well. I am looking forward to the ANA Boston harbor cruise awards banquet honoring Rick.

For those of you who may not have had any experience with Rick, check out his website: http://indiancent.com/ He has some of the most beautiful Flying Eagles and Indian cents on the planet! And he wrote all the attribution guides and other books on Indian cents: http://indiancent.com/38-rick-snow

I know I sound like I'm Rick's advertising manager (honestly, I'm not :D), but seriously, if anyone is interested in getting into Flying Eagle and/or Indian cents, you should definitely buy one of Rick's books before you do. You will benefit greatly from it.

Rick Snow spoke to my Counterfeit Detection class this morning at the ANA Summer Seminar. He brought along his collection of counterfeit FECs and IHCs. He told a story about several of them. He sent one IHC to a major TPG and they sent it back "Questionable Color". While checking the coin he realized it was a struck counterfeit. (It had a proof edge.) He left the set with the instructor and I got to check out all his counterfeit coins this afternoon.

Last night at Summer Seminar I attended the 3rd round of Numismatic Jeopardy. Rick Snow was one of the contestants and they needed a third player. I agreed to play. Rick blew us away. I answered 3 questions correctly. The other guy answered 3 questions correctly and one incorrectly. Rick answered every other question and only missed two or three. His knowledge of numismatics in general and FECs and IHCs is amazing.

    Congratulations to Rick Snow.

I have never had the pleasure of meeting or the chance to talk to Rick but I have read a couple of his books and his knowledge is amazing. He is on my list of people along with some of you on this forum that I want to meat and have some conversations with.
Congratulations Rick on a well deserved reward for your hard work.

Congradulations on the NA for making an excellent decision.

Rick Snow has contributed sooooo much to this hobby, is a very friendly person even with the begginers, cheerfully shares his knowledge, and is an amazing researcher and author.

Charmy, I am in your camp, a huge advertiser, lol. Plus it's kinda neat that he is also our poker buddy . He plays mean poker my friends :kewl:

Not sure what NA has to do with anything, but what impressed me by my limited (very limited) acquaintance of Rick is that he is human. You can actually talk to the guy.
