Good question Hobo! I think someone is mentally twiddlin' their thumbs and possibly talking about the Sacagawea dollars. It's a bit messed up because some ppl really don't understand what gold is and to this day some ppl still ask me if the Sac dollar has any gold content in it!!
i get the same thing with ike dollars. for example my grandmother. she thinks all dollar coins contain silver! and refers to them all as "silver dollars". i guess its cause of the old days when they were made of silver. i tried to explain to her as simple as i could, but i think it went in one ear and out the other.
