I ran across these the other day, again it seems I am buying paper even though I don't really collect it, huh whata ya know. But anyway, I ran across these and they were so crisp and pretty I just had to add them to my collection.

Nice notes BQ. Check out CT moderator De Orc's signature line link, he has some nice Chinese notes on his Banknotebank gallery.

Chinese notes from this period (pre-WWII) make a great collection -- but one that is impossible to complete. There are literally thousands of different varieties. They are nice-looking, well-made notes and most are inexpensive.

The images are fantastic, I really like the train theme on the one yuan
Note, Though i find that a bit strange coming from China!

Why is it strange? Trains and other forms of transport are quite common on Chinese notes. Images of transport are quite effective for demonstrating that the greater state is well connected, unified and giving a sense of forward movement or progress, further it attempts to show their mechanical/industrial prowess, international trade and modernization.

Another CT member recently posted this amazing link to photographs of a Chinese steam train that was in use until not too many years ago. An image of this particular locomotive was used in an engraved vignette in an earlier Chinese note as well.
