Iam a little bit ticked off with USPS and here,s the reason why!

As most of us know first class mail is a good way to ship things
For myself i use it along with delivery confirmation in a 6x9 kraft
Style envelope and everything i ship is dialed in around $2.36
And i have also dialed in the time frame Fort Wayne Indiana
To the West Coast is 3 days.

Here,s one of the problemes i have is when you pay for the extra cost
Of priority mail which is $5.85 when you include delivery confirmation
You are over double the cost and in reality it doesnt get there
Any sooner in most cases so i never use it, I think its kind of
A false since of security thinkig that it will.

I just won an auction and the guy lives right next store in Ohio
About 175 miles away, I used first class and it took 3 days to
Get there now he,s sending it back priority mail and this is
The third day and still no note :(

The bottom line here why pay more for the same lousy service!!

I gave up on USPS a few years ago after having books signed by author stolen also /vignettes/notes stolen .If you live in an apartment building w/small mailboxes.Mailman either leave items that don't fit on top of the mailboxes to be stolen or scribble a signature on confirmation slip & when you track package it says signed & delivered. I have gone though the process of filing complaints & lost & stolen reports & have not to date been re-inversed 1 cent to date. The burden of proof is on you not the USPS !This is on registered insured & Priority mail.
My solution to this is to send or ask sender to send UPS or FED -EX insured (more expensive) that I pay for ,but they will ring or knock on your door or leave a note & reschedule delivery till you are home & hand deliver it to you and you sign for it.
I have never had an item lost or stolen by UPS or Fed-EX ,if seller will not do this I pass & explain the situation in the city here. USPS ....are the worst bunch of thieves in my area ,the higher the insurance the less chance of delivery it is a red flag for (LOST ITEMS).

    mpcusa,

The USPS has been trying to scale down their operations for a few years to try to save costs. A couple of years ago, they were contemplating closing the regional sorting facility in Lee County, FL which would have meant that if you wanted to mail a letter to another address within the county, the letter would have been trucked to Sarasota County, 100 miles away, sorted and then sent back to Lee County. Fortunately for us, the proposal was shot down because our population base is large enough to warrant the sorting facility.

    connor1,

I have been using a P.O. Box for all of my deliveries for a few years now, and it has been worth every cent of the $176 annual fee and the added time it takes me to drive to the Post Office to get my mail.

I forgot to mention that you can get smaller boxes for less money. I have a medium size box because I get some magazines. The other advantage is that you can check your mail 24/7.

Firstly, your scenario, at this time, makes no sense: YOU won an auction, but YOU sent the item via USPS First Class Mail to the other person in this transaction... but now the other person, the Seller(?), is returning what YOU won in the first place, and opted for an alternate tier of return postage, USPS Priority Mail...? I think that you've confused details or pronouns, which first need to be straightened out in your attempt to air your complaint to this forum.

Secondly and more to the point: The 2-3 days that the USPS quotes for Priority Mail delivery is an estimate, not a guarantee. Get that in your head and never, ever forget it because you will be burned time and time again thinking it to mean anything else.

If you required delivery by a specific date, then you, the seller or your customer, should have elected and paid for USPS Express Mail seeing as this was the carrier you each chose to do business with/through.

If you have a general thing against the services tendered by the USPS based solely on your perception of their services, rates, terms and conditions, then you probably need to find another carrier who can deliver on time or you must learn to agree to the terms of service you purchased.

Carriers such as FedEx, UPS and DHL are all alternative services at your disposal and offer services for time sensitive delivery. It remains YOUR responsibility to understand each carriers terms and conditions, services and what they will 'guarantee'. It is imperative that YOU select and pay for the appropriate service to meet your needs.

Therefore, your complaint about the service of the USPS it baseless in the scenario that you provided. You got what you paid for and it's not lousy service. "The bottom line" is that YOU or the other person in the transaction (still unsure of who is who and which way this parcel is traveling to-and-fro) bought the wrong service(s) from the selected carrier and/or either party are simply using the wrong carrier to begin with to obtain the level of service(s) required to complete the transaction.

No point in writing several paragraphs in a response! I was simply
Pointing out the length of time vs the amount of money spent
To get the package from point A to Point B !

There is and was a point to write the number of paragraphs previously in order to explain to you and your simplicity that your complaint is baseless and is the result of your misunderstanding of the services you and/or the other party purchased.

If you want to talk about no point in number of paragraphs, please note that the two paragraphs I snipped out of your 'complaint' had nothing to do to reinforce your point of your so-called, complaint.

apparently some people don't like each other on here. lol. anyways I have never had a problem with USPS. I love to race and mod my car first and foremost before collecting cash and I send all my parts I sell USPS and all the ones I get I prefer to get them USPS. It's usually faster than UPS or the others and cheaper.

I shipped a header out to someone a few states away. USPS was 16 bucks to ship priority mail, and UPS was 22. Only reason I went with UPS is because I used to work at the place I got the quote from and an old co-worker was there and we were just bsing for a long time and I didn't want to get her in trouble so I made it look like we were doing something other than me getting a quote. Otherwise I use USPS.

I live at home with the folks though so no apartment worries as of now.

Although USPS loses millions every year and is mighty low tech compared to UPS and FEDEX, I think they are the most reliable of them all. I agree in regards of the level of service between first class and priority. When you ship a larger item that needs to go in a small box, USPS priority is really the only option since first class "box" prices are pretty much the same. Years ago, first class small box rates were roughly half the cost of priority so i think this was a concious effort on the part of the USPS to pretty much do away with first class packages/boxes.

The one good thing that priority has over first class is the level of tracking and shows scans at multiple "stops" along the way much the same as UPS or FEDEX. First class generally only show status of "label created" and delivered. How many forum members have received emails from PO'ed buyers a few days after shipment asking "how come the shipment hasn't left yet"?? Then you have to explain how first class mail scanning works to a very suspicious buyer. Gulp! In any event, first class mail with delivery confirmation for currency shipping is the only way to go.

Thanks in large part to your participations Krisp. Over 8,000 post in less than a year. Tell me, is there any discussion in which your not a world authority? I think mpcusa's post was mearly a vent and an invitation to a candid discussion. Then your go off with another one of your voliminous pearls followed with the insults. Let us know when you come up for air so we can have a "Krispless" discussion.

But then again, it's a free world. :eek:dd:

So Payton... I see that you're still bummed that I caught you lying about owning and posting a $2 million dollar note as if it were your own in another thread? Now you do you have a history to worry about since I caught you, but chasing me around the threads with some sort of righteous tone of your own won't erase your tarnished reputation here. My points to MPC's ranting at the USPS were valid and stand in defense that often times people's own frustrations are the fault of their own actions or inaction. It's not his first railing about carrier services and fees either. Read into it what you want, as you said it's a 'free world', only too bad it's not free of the misinformed and deceptive wannabes that you have taken sides with.

Not concerned about being "caught" (nothing to catch), nor chasing anyone nor taking sides. Gotta tell you my friend, your the topic of quite a batch of PM's concerning your continued obnoxious attitude. Take a break maybe?

Sure Payton, it's all a love fest, truly it is... didn't you read MPCs declaration of love to all. Enjoy your gossip and antics in private, because you know you'll all get cut down in public. Cheerio!
