Ok, I'm ready to get my 2nd tattoo. I want to place it on my right arm. My idea is to have a flying eagle with my sons name hanging in the claws. I would like to see some differant pictures of what is available. Any pics are appreciated! Brian
A Great Idea! I do tattoos for a living and have gotten to do numismatic art several times on people. Sometimes a collector specifically wants a coin design but mostly I use older coinage art for reference. There are tons of people with swirls and eagles taken from older notes that would never guess it came from a note listed in a Bowers auction catalog. Or an angel with a Merc dime wing. The artist of earlier notes and coins were fantastic and will never exist again as all modern coins have a computer generated look to them. I could go on and on about how the craftsmen of earlier days greated their wares with limited resources but I guess that goes for most antiques. A tattoo is a great way to commemorate your love for your son and cross them with other important things in your life. As with coins you get what you pay for so go all out on this one. Later
Eagle vignettes from The American Bank Note Company Archive Series: 1987, 89, 91 These are some plates showing eagle designs from a three of the six ABNCo Archive Series portfolios, which were editioned sets containing authentic reproductions of ABNCo engraved vignettes used on stock and bond certificates, currency, postage and related things: from The American Bank Note Company Archive Series 1987: from The American Bank Note Company Archive Series 1988: from The American Bank Note Company Archive Series 1991: There may be some other Paper Money / ABNCo collectors here on CT with other ABNCo Archive Series portfolios with other images of eagles they can post as I don't have all 6 years of the portfolios myself. DO POST A PHOTO OF YOUR NEW TAT ONCE IT'S DONE AND HEALED.
I was thinking about this one, But i think Brian was looking for an action Shot but i will offer it up anyway, Actually i found another!!
Cool beans... by default this has become an excellent resource for Eagles and a bounty for Brian's choice of imagery. I really like that MPC $5 note too!
Hey guys, those are some great pictures amd suggestions. Keep them coming. I'm shopping around for a tat artist right now. I will keep everyone posted. Thanks. Brian
If you are still meeting tattoo artists I would recomend a good friend and colleague Tom Meyer at Ink Addiction Tattoos in Jupiter and Stewart FL. We are great friends and we work the Sturgis rally together. He is excellent in his craft and works clean giving safe tattoos. Tell him Matt from SD recommended him. I think he would get a kick out of seeing my coin hobby land him a tattoo.
