That's because they don't like to read it for themselves. They want someone else to read for them.

Here's a few good reasons...
You come in here spouting how much you know about the hobby....telling and posting how much an educator you are in this hobby.
In fact I my self as other members see it as some sort of power trip. Trying to belittle others into believing your disinformation .
Posting images small so most can't truly see what's going on .
Feeding them disinformation on how it's your last specimen you needed.
You insult the members intelligence , if you're such the educator then explain why the methods you use to teach are so demeaning to others?
I've never had a teacher, professor , or anyone try and teach me using your methods .
Yes we are human and subject to making mistakes and errors.....but we aren't stupid !
Trying to take advantage or make someone look the fool isn't teaching .....it's sick!

First of all, I have never claimed to be an educator unless you believe as I do that any member who answers posts correctly is an educator (I've been wrong on a few occasions so that lets me out ). What I have claimed is that I have been in more grading and authentication seminars in the past forty plus years than I can remember.
I joined CT and several other forums about a year ago when an acquaintance told me about them. He is a moderator on the NGC Forum and has been posting since it began.
I never knew how much fun and how educational these forums were. There's that word again EDUCATIONAL. I've learned a bunch for being as you imply - such a "know-it-all."

Now that's a very strong charge. I don't think you are a mind reader who can judge another member's motives. I'm happy in my shoes and don't need to impress anyone. As I once wrote... I hate people , don't care what they think about me , and don't suffer fools spouting misinformation about anything - including numismatics. While everyone is entitled to an opinion, much of numismatics is black and white so some opinions are ignorant .

If I have belittled you in the past, I apologize. I truly have learned to hold back both barrels since being banned.

As to your accusation about spouting misinformation... please let everyone who reads your accusations here know what it was! AFAIK, on the occasions I have been wrong about an opinion, I have owned - up to it and thanked the poster for correcting my error!

Paddy, you claim to be a variety collector. I'll bet you know all about "fly-speck" numismatics. I should think that you of all people should be able to see small things. I don't have a big camera and I am ignorant when it comes to photography as @C-B-D has pointed out. @SuperDave could probably teach me a thing or a dozen but he has me on ignore due to the fact that I disagreed with several of his posts in an very direct and uncharitable way. I hope I've learned to be more

See Doug's post. And yes, I have lied about posting questions when I already knew the answer to what I was asking or trying to show. Now that you have blown my cover I'm going to ask you and any member reading this to decide what you would prefer:

I learn that I have a fake coin. What do you prefer?

1. Post an image, say the coin is a counterfeit/altered, then tell why I think so...or

2. Post an image, make up a story like I'm thinking of buying this coin or that it belongs to my grandmother, ask for members to offer advice, then reveal the coin is fake and give reasons?

That's the way I like to do it. Note in my OP, I only mentioned the spot to draw attention away from the added mint mark and bad buffing job to help hide the alteration. It worked.

Sorry @Paddy54, I'll miss you and your honesty! Sister taught you well. I never had any of them although my aunt was in the order and taught school. I heard from my dad that she was a 4'5" rolling ball of terror!

Actually, @Insider you were on the right track for the Socratic method, Yet when you descided to post in different colors, like we cant follow what you are saying?

I was in the "slow" Latin Scientific Class. The better students in the "Greek Honors Class" had to translate those guys before they could read them.

 

Option 3. More of a quiz or discussion type thing of it but mix it up so it's not always real or not always fake or sometimes real with an added mint mark ect ect.
