That would be an 1898 Indian Cent that I got years ago as a cashier.

Funny how you remember those things.

Back in the days when I was a bit younger, mostly from collecting for my paper route, or going thru change collected in the church offering.

    1878 dollar
    1897 half
    1892 quarter
    1915 dime
    1889 nickel
    1880 cent

It sure was nice back then for a kid to be able to collect some oldies from pocket change.

I certainly hope you replaced the change in the church offering plate. Otherwise, you may have some explaining to do down the line.

    :hail:

I did the same thing a few years ago!
    different religion, but same idea.
I'd always replace the change exactly, or a little more.

my oldest coin is a 1919 wheat cent in fine condition i got from a friends change jug that had $300 in change in it. his mom was going to dump it all in coinstar and before we left i searched through it. i also found a bunch of 40's and 50's nickels, and a few other wheat cents and a 1946D dime. some other oldies i have found was a 1944 cent from change and a 1938 jefferson nickel i got from rolls.

When I was a teen, I got a 1911-S cent in change, VF-EF cond IIRC. Gave it to my dad as a birthday present along with a red-seal Five Dollar note (don't remember the series) that I got in change when I bought his real birthday present, a new wallet.

A 1919 Lincoln Wheat cent. It's not in great shape and I keep it
in my wallet as my, well, lucky penny! (I picked it up circa 1980)
I'm surprised by the way or BTW how many of those
    were found here.

NOT in a roll, um........ OH YEAH! An 1899 Indian head cent, in surprisingly nice condition, VF-30. In a roll was a 1863 Indian head cent in F-12.
