I'm forever changing my technique and revisiting coins I've previously photographed but this is one I'm pretty happy with and don't feel the need to try and improve on anytime soon!

A favorite image from a photoshoot earlier this year. A silver tetradrachm of Athena Alkidemos, moving left with a shield and thunderbolt. Coin date 246 - 229 BC. I really like the detail on this coin and how the ancient Macedonians depicted lightning in the hands of the gods.

Here's a very colourful, though unflattering portrait of Emperor Nerva. His lack of success in dealing with the army, and his forced adoption of an heir almost seems to show on his face. Then again, he was 66 when he became emperor so maybe he was just tired and grumpy.
