Received yet another iteration of this suspect e-mail this morning. Rather than deleting it outright and blocking the sender, I thought I would share as a heads up first: The e-mail is showing as having been sent from a .ru domain (Russia) but we all know how easily that can be forged. More importantly, there were attachments marked as .jpegs and titled as if they were coin images. I never open any attachments unless I know the sender. I'm temped to e-mail Boris back that I would be happy to help, and I would be happy to buy his collection at a very high premium, if only he could help with a long lost relative in Nigeria... But obviously I won't be replying. That's never a good idea unless you're familiar with the sender. The question that some of you might be raising is, "Gee, was George's e-mail harvested from here on CT?" I doubt it. The e-mail to which this was sent has been around for something like 15 years now and is probably on every spammer's list from here to, well, Russia. I think it's just a coincidence that this particular e-mail is coin (and stamp) related. Let's be careful out there.
The scams are getting worse and more frequent. I've been averaging about two phishes a week but I am not receiving emails such as the one on the OP but it's only a matter of time before those will start. I made the mistake of completing a IQ test a few weeks ago and to get the results, I had to enter my name & email address but once I did that, I didn't get the results, they started trying to sell me stuff so I realized it was a scam to get my email address and ever since, I have been inundated with junk mail. I'm about to kill that email address because I only use it for certain things and I'm tired of adding new domains to my blocked list. Thanks for sharing this newest scam with us because as with coin collecting, education is the key to keep from being scammed. :thumb: Ribbit
Just FYI The local money in Nigeria is Naira and I think there are 100 Kobo to the Naira. Very best regards, collect89

I know this is a scam that will run me all over the place, in order for me to qualify and I will probably have to spend 10 times the amount of the prize, in order to fully qualify for the top prize, so I've elected to just stay broke and let someone else have all the money. Ribbit
Doesn't "Lotto.nl" translate to "Lotto - No Loot"? I would respond that all of these matters have been transferred on your behalf to Mr. Henry O'Scam, Esq., who is your exclusive agent for you and your long lost relatives who were thought dead in Outer Elbonia* and are in fact the holders of said Lotto.nl ticket, and would be happy to claim the prize if they would just deposit it in Mr. O'Scam's depository account at the First National Bank of Insolvency, Upper Bailout Branch. *with apologies to Scott Adams (Dilbert)
But then we can't do unto him as he has done unto us! Ribbit Ps: I'm sure Rubeun could easily fill up his inbox with no-return address emails.
It's an email address and it's active because CT recognized it as such. If there had been an actual active hyperlink to a web address, I agree, it should have been removed but email addresses are only a problem if you send an email to it with a return address attached. Ribbit Ps: I edited the it and took out the active hyperlink, just so it can't be clicked on. It can still be copy-pasted but the active hyperlink is gone. I figured it didn't matter so by taking it out, now you can't pester me about it.
