Nice score Rob I would have the 5 Soles graded. With only a small mintage population to start with you know that not to many where graded. I don't know much about your other coin.
Ive wanted this type for many years and finally pulled the trigger on one. Much better with the toning in hand.
I love that gold Peru coin. my 2013 Krause catalog says there's only 3,002 minted. not sure which number is accurate ???
Ah, a classic French beauty. I just picked up a string of these coins, but all of my pick-ups come from the 1960s and 1970s fleur de coin sets when the denomination became 10 (heavy) francs and later 50 francs.
What I put in the fist post was from memory, but I checked my older Krause and it says 3,651! This is was the seller's note says on the flip, too. BTE..I paid $15 over melt, which was $94 IIRC. Rob
The Hercules design on French coinage dates back to the time of the First Republic (1792-1804). http://frenchcoins.tripod.com/Dupre.htm When you do something right, it endures and becomes a classic. Our French numismatic friends definitely did it right.
OK, here goes. I haven't looked to see if somebone else has posted these somewhere in 282 pages. 5 Drachma piece George I 1876A
just bought this 1933 Lebanon 50 piastres silver coin off Ebay. the reverse on this coin is the best I have seen in a very long time of searching. I have nicknamed this coin the "Avatar" tree coin from the Avatar movie. this will complete this type coin set of 3 coins. I can not wait to get it in my hands. sellers pics... great detail on this reverse.
